If anyone deserves reparations it’s the Native peoples of the countries that this conversation is happening in. The people who are actually still suffering real life repercussions, at least as far as the the first world countries.

USA should pay for reparations for descendants of American slavery. UK should pay for reparations of descendants of British slavery in Caribbean colonies. And Arab countries (ex Ottoman Empire) should pay reparations to descendants of slaves captured from the southern coasts of Europe and Eastern Europe. African countries should also pay descendants of slaves within their own nations who were captured/bought/sold by their own people.

Slavery existed virtually everywhere. By that logic, every country should pay reparations.

Slavery still exists today, unironically in many of those countries voting "YES".

Contrary to popular belief, most european countries never had a role in the transatlantic trade or in colonialism.

Reparations wouldn't solve prejudice.

The Ottoman Empire was Turkish not Arab, and to suggest that war-stricken and poor countries should pay first world nations for something so insignificant that white people weaponize to prove they were “oppressed too!!1!” is just laughable

Don't UAE and Qatar have many slave laborers whose passports are taken away from them upon arrival, earning less than USD$500 per month in one of the MOST EXPENSIVE countries, and working more than 8 hours a day straight into the sun in the harshest climate envirnoment in the world, then at the end of the day, they put at least 10 of them to sleep together inside the same room without windows? The audacity that that has. 

 

Not Mauritania voting yes when it was the LAST country to abolish slavery and the slave market ONLY in 1981 after it was forced to do so.

How black do you have to be to get it, would white people like Halsey with black heritage still get reparations despite being pretty much just as privileged as fully white people.
