MonsterJohn Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 imagine they would load my consciousness to one of the robots to slave away for eternity no thanks

If science made a 100 % identical copy of you (molecular, atomically level) with all your memories as you. Will you be conscious through them and experience their life as well ? Also, what if they copy and paste it to multiple computers ?
Pop Life Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 (edited) Isn't this the plot to Cyberpunk 2077? Hell no. There's also the question of identity. Who are we sans the corporeal experiences that make up the vast sum of our lives? Where we are, who we know and the feed of our physical senses all play a huge part in our sense of self. It's within their context define ourselves. Take these away and what remains? If you extract a mind and shove it in an empty file for eternity with nothing but these questions, how long before it goes insane? Edited October 9, 2022 by Pop Life
commander Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 I just read a book called Hard-boiled wonderland and the end of the world by Haruki Murakami and it had to do a lot with this and how humans can reach immortality. a good recommendation .
John Slayne Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 yes but only if it's guaranteed that nobody will have access to it without my consent
bowdown Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 yes. i am banking on science being able to give me a 'san junipero'.

One of my fave murukami books tbh. It started slow but the last parts are intense and mind blowing. One of the most perfect endings he had. And that Bob Dylan song is gonna haunt me for the rest of my life. San Junipero stole the idea, I guess. Lol

Murakami’s writing feels surreal. Almost dream-like. Perfect for the fall season. I can’t wait to read Norwegian Wood and his other works. And I didn’t realize how similar the story is to San Jupinero until now lol.
Alldeezy Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 honestly got nothing to hide, I really wouldn't care.
