FightForTanas Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 I think the dirrty outfit was a hit in the UK, in the US nobody knows ha.

Stripped also charted from 2002 to 2005 in the UK. The "Dirrty" outfit was also replicated by actual popstars: In addition to celebrities and members of the general public: Lastly, "Dirrty" has more streams than IAS4U on Spotify + YouTube combined. So Sam Smith would be correct and white gays fuming on ATRL will not change this fact. 11 hours ago, La Reina said: And "Dirrty" has more Spotify streams the difference in their YouTube music video views is minimal whereas the gap in their Spotify streams is huge: YouTube: "Dirrty" 161.7M views vs. "IAS4U" 167.8M views Spotify: "Dirrty" 191M streams vs. "IAS4U" 157.5M streams Overall: "Dirrty" = 352.7M streams "IAS4U" = 325.3M streams It's totally normal he chose Dirrty since the era was HUGE in the UK.... The Britney stans completely losing it over an opinion
Istan4R Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 They also released Unholy, the worst song of all time, so I’m not sure I would trust their opinion on anything but kudos to Xtina for someone remembering her

Vermillion Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 I don't care enough about comparing the two but something I was always wondering..... No shade to XTina but why exactly did Dirrty stall on the Hot 100 - was it actually confirmed Les Moonves at ClearChannel boycotted or is that just a conspiracy by Fighters?
EnterTheAttic Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 I have NEVER in my lifetime seen that Christina outfit. Before seeing the clip, I thought it was going to be the outfit for the music video. Everybody and their mother knows about the snake albino snake performance!
La Reina Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 5 hours ago, lovemehateme said: Also this outfit is not even Britney's most iconic, there's the school girl one and the red latex jumpsuit. Xtina has NONE other than this lol. Lie again.
JustThatGreat Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 I think definitely in the UK. That MV dominated.
PoisonPill Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 I think there may be a US/UK divide on this one. Dirrty wasn't really a hit in the US, the video made some waves but it certainly isn't remembered by the gp like "Beautiful."
A.R.L Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 he should've dressed something similar in his last music video, better than that black and white suit that didn't really fit his body.
Ombre Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 Christina has like 3 iconic outfits while Britney has like 7 or 8. Britney is the most iconic pop star in terms of imagery

Flanders Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 The Dirrty video was indeed quite a serve. Not sure which of the two is more iconic, they're both remembered amongst homosexuals

Exactly it peaked at #48 on the Hot 100, but the video was still really talked about there. It stalled at about #14 on pop radio althought stayed in the top 20 there for a while. At this point most artists werent releasing physical singles and eras were radio driven. Had their been a physical single release it would have at least reached top 10.
Freakshowvato Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 (edited) its their opinion. they chose britney's denim tho, when she was against JLo Edited October 8, 2022 by Freakshowvato

Especially, if we want to argue “outside of pop culture”. You are definitely more likely to have random people recognize the picture of Britney with the snake wrapped around her neck than Christina in her Dirrty outfit. However, both are very iconic moments in pop history. Maybe in the US. UK I’d say otherwise. I don’t know why Brit fans are mad. It’s just his opinion.

UseYourIllusion2002 Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 Andy Cohen could've compared Madonna's wedding dress to Cyndi's look at the time. But damn, that's how Sam Smith looks now?

Jaay Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 This the the gayest thing of all time. Gay men in their 20s/30s arguing on the internet about which outfit from a pop star is more iconic. From an un biased opinion, in the US, I’d definitely say it’s Britney’s. That doesn’t mean Christina’s isn’t “iconic” but if you put a stuffed toy snake around your neck, anyone in their 20s/30s/ possibly 40s will know who you are.
