The legendary album was released 10 years ago today!

 

The album was certified 4xPlat in the UK (nearly eligible for 5xPlat) and is the 11th biggest female album of the 2010s. It's also one of the only 10 albums (probably even less) by a European female artist to be certified 2xPlat in the US. It has amassed over 5 BILLION streams.

It’s hard to believe that I’ve been a stan for over 10 years now. Halcyon era was by far my favourite. Every single song is special (bar a certain overrated song…) in its own way.

 

My Blood, Explosions, ACH and Under Control are personal favourites of mine.

Btw I didn't count Halcyon Days tracks cause otherwise there's too many tracks to choose from and it'd be impossible for me.

I was OBSESSED with Halcyon back in the day.

Lights was so new and I loved it a lot but the heartbreak and desperation in Halcyon really spoke to me. It felt very authentic and passionate but at the same time the songs were straight up HITS. 

Halcyon Days was a letdown for me because it was much more commercial-pop sounding but I still enjoyed it.

 

My top five would be:

Joy

My Blood

Without Your Love (+ I Know You Care AND Explosions)

This album was one of the first I ever truly listened to as a young teenager. I adored it.

 

It was such a daring sophomore record but sadly the Days tracks ended up so much more generic. The upbeat tracks kinda ruined the vibe of the album (especially Burn) and I pretty much lost interest in Ellie after that. 
 

I hope she releases some of the deluxe tracks on Spotify for the 10th anniversary: Ritual, In My City, Without Your Love.

Literally my favorite album of all time! I had never felt such anticipation for a release before. I remember the preview video where My Blood's chorus had me sooooo excited. I listened to the iTunes 30 second previews over and over again. After it was released, I probably spent a year falling asleep to the haunting and serene atmosphere. It is truly such a special and beautiful record. I can't believe 10 years have gone by since the release. Wow.
