HausofNick Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 (edited) Nintendo is a bulletproof brand when it comes to critic reviews. This is the case for both their games and as we can see here their film productions. Going to see this tonight! So excited and I'm totally going in my Mario t-shirt Edited April 6, 2023 by HausofNick

Kylizzle Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 Quality lost but at least ATJ and Charlie Day have a smash on their resumes
Kylizzle Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 Why is everyone seething at the reviews if they DONT matter Seems they matter to you
WhateverYouWant Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 I was going to go see it this weekend but after reading the reviews I’ll wait to watch it for free
M!X Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 do not get me wrong I like Jenna but that user really tried it with AJ comparison as she by far the superior talent
Broken Posted April 6, 2023 Author Posted April 6, 2023 Audience scores in China are GREAT: • 9.4 on Maoyan (biggest movie tickening platform) - best score for an animated Hollywood movie in the past five years. • 8.2 on Douban (China's IMDb). But the movie is already collapsing, wtf . China is DONE with Hollywood. They only care about Avatar. I'm pretty sure the next Fast & Furious and Transformer movies will flop too. @BNF91 What do you think?
Nebur Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 It's Mario BROS, the world's largest portable game franchise ever! it is obvious that it was going to sweep the box office

I heard good things about it from real people. Gonna watch it next week.
lovecatt Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 Honestly my biggest complaint is the unnecessary use licensed music. Mario has such a huge catalog of great music that it was not at all needed
wren Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 I saw it and loved it. I doubt the critics were actual mario fans!

There might be some random surprises here and there (aka any films the CCP doesn't see as a threat to their own domestic films, or Avatar). Anyways aside from China these numbers are insane. Japan and South Korea haven't even opened yet and we are looking at a $350-380M 5-day global debut. Wow. Thursday domestic was incredible. $26M. Amazing hold. Domestic 5-day could challenge $200M.

The 1993 live action movie flopped massively. Anyway, the GPs reaction has now made me want to watch this again, and I hope Grace Randolf is fuming no one's taking her sh!tty review seriously.
Kirby Kirbs Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 Saw it last night. Most of the audience were adults Overall it was a cute & enjoyable movie but the pacing was so fast that I couldn’t fully immerse myself into the world & environment at times, which was too bad because it was very beautiful. I also found myself too busy looking at easter eggs moments during the 1st half but that was on me I guess
BNF91 Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 This is a beast.. $45-50M Friday incoming. $1B+ seems all but locked.
Broken Posted April 7, 2023 Author Posted April 7, 2023 Why the mods merged this thread and the box office and RT threads? We already have like 10 Joker threads, 10 "Taylor is so successful omg" threads, etc. and these are still separate/open. Some people only like to post in specific threads, not the main movie threads... @Ryan
