Italian Atrlers help!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, i was looking up the italian discussion thread but i haven't seen any so might as well just ask here.

I was wondering whether you guys might have any help/lead for finding an apartment to rent for students short term (5/6 months) in Milan. Preferred budget is 600€ to 700€

I'm currently looking at the Idealista website but they're either asking from january next year or a long term contract.

If you guys have any suggestions, i would truly appreciate it!!

Hello dear, Idealista is more for people looking for long-term accomodation. Apartments for rent can be found everywhere in the city, but your budget is pretty low, so you likely won't end up in a very central area. Still, public transporation is functional. I suggest to enter some Facebook groups related to your university or to expats in Milan and ask around there.

Just some things to avoid. If you need to register with the city, you need to avoid scam-ish listings offering what is often either office space or even a storage unit as an apartment. With your budget, you need to be aware that unscrupulous landlords may try to give you a deal with something that isn't even a legal residence.

You could try looking around AirBNBs that often month-long stays. But Milan is one of the most expensive cities in Italy, and you may way to look at some of the smaller towns nearby with train connections (Busto Arsizio, Magenta, Legnano, or Turbigo) as opposed to the city itself.

Italian rental contacts have standard time frames that landlords are generally required to offer applicants, so that's why you're having a hard time finding anything for short-term. One way to find something a little more flexible is to find a nearby town and contact local realtors in those areas.
