Do you know how to read/write in cursive?

no, they barely taught that in school, or maybe i just don't remember, but i'm sure it's not that useful anymore

Yes I had to learn it and was forced to use it from 2nd or 3rd grade on. Then I moved when I was 10 and the place where I moved to no one used cursive. So now my handwriting is probably halfway between print and cursive but cursive is faster tbh!

Meanwhile my younger siblings (Gen Z) can't write cursive at all.

Yes but I never used it and always found it ugly

It was mandatory for us in second grade. My default writing style is a mix of print and cursive.

I get not being able to write in cursive, but how can you be unable to read cursive if it's your native language? It's just the same letters written in cursive :rip:

Yes. Latin and Sütterlin cursive.

I can read legible cursive and write it. My grandpa sends me letters in cursive and I can't read it all it looks like scribbles. I feel like older people have the worst cursive

At some point in school we were supposed to switch from cursive to print and I just kept writing in cursive.

I find it so weird when people sign documents in print.

Of course, yes. Since, like, grade 2.

yeah we were forced to ONLY write in cursive from like 3rd grade all the way to about 8th or 9th grade which is SO weird when I think of it.

Like now I can only write in cursive cuz of it but I noticed this newer gen do not write in cursive at all and their handwriting and notes are just way more clearer and simpler. Cursive is literally just for aesthetic reasons and there is like no value in forcing it upon your students unless you are raising them to become calligraphists or something :rip: it's just so damn dumb. Like our teacher would legit scold us. ridiculous

But when ”u” “v” “w” are near each other my brain explodes :ryan2:

Of course. I'm smart :razzle:

Yeah. I primarily write in cursive but I also realize most people can't read it so I mix in print sometimes...it's a mess

Hmm, yeah. How do you write if not using cursive? Do you just mimic the arial font?

Most people write cursive m, n, u and v (we don't have w) as the same exact spiky wave here myself included :dies:
