Europe Posted September 25, 2022 Posted September 25, 2022 What are some professions that get less respect than they deserve?
shookspeare Posted September 25, 2022 Posted September 25, 2022 In the US it's 100% teaching that being said, training for teachers should be rigorous as it is in countries that value their teachers like Finland. in the US basically anyone can be a teacher now the whole system needs an overhaul
Oxy Posted September 25, 2022 Posted September 25, 2022 Medical workers, carpenters, farmers, teachers, janitors, basically those who keep civilizations standing.

CottageHore Posted September 25, 2022 Posted September 25, 2022 Teachers, firefighters (they make $30 an hour on average to literally save people from burning buildings, service workers, all frontline workers who literally hold up our society, nurses, therapists. This country absolutely fails the people who keep society running and it makes no sense.
Devin Posted September 26, 2022 Posted September 26, 2022 Healthcare workers. It wasn’t until after the pandemic peaked we started getting some appreciation. Firefighters, waiters, and strippers too.

Mr. Duff Posted September 27, 2022 Posted September 27, 2022 I agree with most responses here. Also want to add bus/train drivers and conductors, mailman/woman, waiters/bartenders, grocery staff/store staff, basically the people who I need in my life so I can live. They all deserve more respect that they get.
Robert Posted September 27, 2022 Posted September 27, 2022 Cleaners and carers both get paid badly and looked down upon even though they’re very much essential jobs as the pandemic showed us.

Jotham Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 Teachers and service workers are the most obvious answer, but therapists deserve so much more respect too.
manwhore Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 Stock day traders — jk. they offer absolutely no value to society. Tell what value they bring ot —- teachers for sure. Also hard working people building roads homes businesses. I’m always at aww at how truly hard working they are. Every working class person tbh.
A.R.L Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 I think most of the jobs mentioned here are already highly respected, but yeah I think the cleaners and caregivers deserve more respect. Imagine a world without cleaners
TrueBlood Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 I've always thought that barista/servers are probably the more underrated categories of workers. You definitely don't need a degree of some sort to do that, but if you think about it, they're incredibly essentials for a large amount of population and they give you food, which is basically the most essential way, together with clothes, to spend your money.

La Reina Posted September 29, 2022 Posted September 29, 2022 Teachers, by far. They're underpaid, overworked, and people don't respect them nearly as much as they should (in the U.S. at least)
