If Russia can't even take on Ukraine, they're not going to try to take on the world. If a world war breaks out, it will be due to a miscalculation (which I admit is possible), not due to any country actually intending it to happen.

 

I think Russia may resort to increasingly extreme measures (such as mobilization) to try to salvage the situation in Ukraine but will stop short of starting a true world war. They will probably become an increasingly isolated country too, similar to Iran, but one which is still more or less functional (unlike North Korea).

 

I think China is taking notes and will probably avoid invading Taiwan, at least for the next few years. For now, they'll just keep trying to steal technology and influence decision makers in foreign countries. However, their radical policies are causing them to be increasingly isolated from the rest of the world, and for corporations looking for cheap labour to turn elsewhere. This will probably be a slow process, but as the West divests from Chinese manufacturing, it will make sanctions more and more palatable (China should already be heavily sanctioned based on all it's said and done imo, we're just addicted to their manufactured goods).

 

This will lead to a new cold war, between the West and China. Between the sanctions/economic isolation and the aging population, Chinese economic growth will slow further, and then decline. It's these decline phases that are the most dangerous.

 

However, that process will take along time imo. Just disentangling and divesting from China will be a long and complicated process. Aside from their manufacturing impact, they also own important stakes in many strategic Western companies such as mining companies and farm land, and have influence in many regions of the world including Africa, Pakistan, parts of SE Asia, parts of Eastern Europe, parts of Latin America...

I am sorry but Ruasia isn't gonna mobilise further into Europe, they have all the resourcea they need and have all the allies they could ever want. The only reason this war started it is due to the 8 year long constant shelling of the Donbass region by Western Ukraine, that killed over 24,000 people.

I am jealous of people living in South America, they have no enemies but if Asia, Europe and North America nuke each other, they will probably start fighting each other for survival (if nature could even survive this mess)
