Do you remember where his previous single peaked? Probably he won't debut in top 40!

Highly doubt it lol, it could go Top 3 next week I think, but its streams are not stellar, and it's close to its airplay peak.

TWIW debuted in the Top 10, and peaked at #8 or #9 several months later, right? And that’s after Montero (his last lead) debuted at #1 and followed up with IB at #1.

I’m assuming LNX will roll out his next lead on Friday. I’ll be shocked if it debuts outside the Top 40, especially considering how weak the charts are right now.

Yeah, AIW just isn’t on the same level. Typically, 10+ week number one hits have an unstoppable lock on the number one position at their peaks because they are just so big. Sometimes, they might be dethroned for one week due to a huge debut. AIW was dethroned by a couple big debuts which is kinda normal. However, the fact that AIW was also dethroned temporarily from the top spot by About Damn Time and Break My Soul, which both got to the top spot overtime through mostly organic means, is pretty unprecedented for a 10+ week number one. It shows how AIW never have a strong lock on the top position. That never would have happened to songs like Uptown Funk, Despacito, Blurred Lines, or Old Town Road. Nothing was touching them for weeks on end at their peaks. The charts are just so week these days; the new normal I guess.

His previous single wasn't TWIW ..his previous single didn't debut in top 40 and it disappeared after the first week!! The same could happen again

And don’t forget that when AIW was in its 5th week and very close to its peak, it failed to hold off Wait For U, despite Harry putting out a digital download with alternative cover of the song. Then, the following two weeks, AIW got blocked by First Class. So, at its peak, AIW had a 3-week stretch where it was blocked from #1, instead of having a strong lock at the top position. To me, this is more damning than ADT and BMS taking weeks at #1 when AIW was past its peak.

Also, if Bad Habit blocks AIW from a 15th week at #1, AIW will have never recorded 5 straight weeks at #1.

The remix helped alot. She should still be able to be stable in the top 10 next week.

What are Steve's chances of getting the #1 next week?

I'd say about 40%:

Who knows, LNX releasing on Friday, then Lil Baby and Taylor Swift releasing albums in October, the 10/1 chart might be Bad Habit's best chance at #1 on the Hot 100.
