illia Posted December 12, 2023 Share Posted December 12, 2023 (edited) Found more tea on the movie on Reddit from the test screening SPOILER ALERT Spoiler 6 years after the events of the Texas pornhouse massacre, Maxine Minx the soul survivor continues her journey towards fame setting out to make it as an actress in 1980’s Los Angeles during the reign of the night stalker. Maxine has landed a role in a horror sequel titled The Puritan 2. But when bodies begin dropping around Hollywood, MaXXXine and others believe it's the nightstalker, but it's someone who is eager to find Maxine because they know what she did to Pearl. Mia Gothe is starring as Maxine Minx. She's still haunted by Pearl and Texas pornhouse massacre. A news clipping gave the events from X that title. Lilly Collins stars as Molly - an actress who appeared in the original puritan film but is back for the sequel despite dying in the first film. Her and Maxine have an interaction at Lily's makeup trailer where they discuss the director of the film. Elizabeth Debicki stars as a film director who is directing the puritan and I'm told she's believed to be very strict. She is the one that pretty much keeps telling Maxine that if she wants to make it in this business she needs to squash what ever is going on in her personal life because if she doesn't she can be replaced just as easy. She personally fought for Maxxine to have this role because she believes Max has something the other girls didn't. Sophie Thatcher stars as makeup artist working on the puritan 2 and she gets to make a life cast of maxines head for the movie. Moses Sumney stars as a video store clerk who is also maxines best friend in the movie since her apartment is right next to the video store. Halsey stars as Tabby - She was a stripper who worked at the adult theater that has the dance video booths that her and Maxine perform at. Chloe Farnsworth stars as an adult entertainer Johncarlo Esposito stars as Maxine's agent and I'm told he had a kind of a mobster swagger to him and looked great with a very Sammy Davis Jr. Style to him Bobby Cannavale and Michelle Monaghan star as detectives working on the case of murders happening around Hollywood. Kevin Bacon stars as a corrupt private investigator who has been hired by an anonymous person to find Maxine. As for our killers look What you see of the killer mainly is the black leather gloves and black jacket with a Spanish style black hat. All this mention of black just makes me think A from pretty little liars but whatever haha. Their lair of sorts if you will seems to be a mansion in the Hollywood hills. They Mark their victims with a pentagram like the night stalker since he's being used as a scapegoat...the killer refers to the pentagram as mark of the beast. Here's the reaction I got from the test screening but I'm told most in attendance outside of 1 person enjoyed the film. It was great I loved that it had it set in the 80s of course but around the time of the night stalker Investigation to give you that feeling that. The performances were great Mia Goth was phenomenal as always, Halsey was great, Elizabeth Debicki was a standout for them as well. Kevin Bacon played the Sleezy Private eye detective very well and had great scenes with Mia. Mia and Kevin have great chemistry which is good because I know he's a problem for her during this movie. but there are a few moments that seemed a little to over the top like the dad in Scream 6. They highlighted a great chase scene that happens during the film as well so that got me excited. Kevin Bacon was who they enjoyed a lot from the newbies. It felt like it moved a little fast a few times but overall good pacing. MaXXXine includes sequences with the house from psycho and bates motel. But unfortunately we live in a world where "OMG we were JUST like family and had such a wonderful time shooting this movie bisous all around!!" does not get a whole lot of asses into theater seats, but people will now come to catch the moment where Mia concussed someone with a kick... it's very sad to take something like this (if it's fabricated then it's even more deplorable) to get people's attention.
