The typical NYPD car costs between 35-58k each, that has always been Tesla Model 3/Y territory.  They also get discounts for buying in bulk, so the actual price is going to be less than the MSRP.  The city as a whole is transitioning city service vehicles to EVs and hybrids, which are more expensive than traditional gas cars.  Ideally, they’d put more funding into public schools and buy less new cars, but I’d still like all new city cars be fully electric.
