It was released in the 70s. it got a boost from thriller and his becoming an even bigger star but idk how much it sold in the 80s. its original run was 10m (which was the biggest album for a black artist at that time) and then boosted to 20 million as of today.

Released in August of 1979 hence why I ask since majority of da hits were in da 80’s
