Jagger Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 Why were the random British roommate and the queer with the glasses so insufferable I liked the movie but the characters were awful. Also the douchebag guy's motivations made no sense to me like he kept switching the whole movie
lander Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 Is it really slasher? I never watched any hellraiser movie before

superchaz Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 Would have been better if she went to hell to try and save her brother and we saw how hell was really like
skankle Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 The characters in this were so paper empty nothing, they should have just leaned into it and gone straight up slasher Loved the cenobite stuff though!

Gossip_Boy Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 It was too long which resulted in some parts to be a bit of a slog but a good back half made up for it. Overall I thought it was good. And much better than a straight to Hulu movie has any right to be.

That would have been the beauty of it, she went there to save him but realised she couldn’t, and maybe it could have finished where she’s trapped in hell and a sequel where she tries to get out

I think she chose the right one? She accepted her fate and moved on with it.
i spit on haters Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 lol, didn't enjoy it at all. And I didn't care about any of the characters.
qurl Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 Spoiler the part where the douchebag screams “AHHHHH F*CK” after the Chatterer dies absolutely sends me the dialogue is saur bad

My thoughts exactly! The script and acting was trash but I LOVED everything else. This is my first Hellraiser film and I LOVE the concepts of the gifts and the cenobites not being traditionally evil. Definitely will be watching the original.

Distantconstellation Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 I want them to bring back Kirsty Cotton & Julia.
Sharapov Posted October 12, 2022 Posted October 12, 2022 why is everyone hating the acting? the lead girl was fine to me. movie was good quality for streaming tbh the boyfriend's body was SICK, dat ass

The lead was good as well, she’s Pamela Adlon’s daughter! The rest of the cast ranges from good to acceptable. Then again, they didn’t have much to work with.
fauxtography Posted October 12, 2022 Posted October 12, 2022 Mostly great stuff - some critiques but overall this movie was ACE LOVED the straight up lore approach. Added a reason to be more interested in it even if at surface level it was just a slasher-light. Much better than the original where the cenobites/pinhead are basically the equivalent of those animatronic animals at chucke cheese. Obsessed with the new pinhead! SO GOOD. Love how they took an ethereal direction instead of some frankensteind bruiser. Formula was meh, felt more 13 ghosts went full scooby doo than what is expected from hellraiser. Which kinda goes into my major critique here - the original's formula was so much more "horror" than this. The cenobytes played accessory to the real villains and antagonists of the movie (they're hardly in the movie at that!) in the OG, but in this one, ultimately they're the "big baddies" and it isn't really the culture of a hellraiser movie. Would have LOVED a similar narrative where the real evil comes from people, and the cenobytes play "reward/punishment" of that. Much more investing than a half-assed story about addiction turned mystery "missing person" case. Anyways, hope they dont drop this and are able to come back even harder! Loved the art direction, and this new pinhead deserves to be the new pennywise.
Gavin. Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 The druggie main character was so annoying The first half was semi decent but it felt like the writing got worse and worse in the second half that even the horrible actors couldn’t try to save it The cenobites were cool and but some of them looked a biT cheap/fake and they weren’t around near enough when all we had was these bad actors trying to save the movie
