Gossip_Boy Posted September 20, 2022 Posted September 20, 2022 This kinda already looks better than any of the sequels to the first movie lol.
D_Man3379 Posted September 20, 2022 Posted September 20, 2022 Still cautiously optimistic about this even with Clive Barker attached in some form. What was so great about the first Hellraiser is that the cenobites weren’t the “main” villains of the first Hellraiser, it was the humans. Spoiler Specifically Frank and Julia So I hope they keep that premise and not have the cenobites be the big baddies.
Uncatena Posted September 20, 2022 Posted September 20, 2022 Jesus that trailer actually scared the **** out of me… I’m very intrigued, it looks goooood

Yeah, I'm hoping that the cenobites are just very prominent in the promo because they're the key selling point, and that they won't be the central villains of the film like it's a slasher or something. The trailer seems pretty decent still - certainly more promising than anything the series has got since like, the 90s

That first guy in the trailer who told the other one to play sounded like a bad one

You can still add some light so we can make out what we are supposed to be afraid of.
Broken Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 100% on RT (5 reviews). Oh wow, oh wow. First Prey, now Hellraiser. Hulu is killing it in the horror franchise revitalization game. Now I'm even more excited for the Alien TV show .

Sweetestsecret Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 Many people said that this is the best movie of the franchise.. even better than the original classic

genetic fail Posted October 7, 2022 Author Posted October 7, 2022 This was really good! A very modern take and they fine tuned some of the questionable parts of the original. Like the box and how it transforms like an actual puzzle was so cool! It didn't need to be 2 hrs long though and some scenes were virtually unwatchable because of how dark the lighting is.

Jamie ate down.
BeachRat Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 (edited) are we gonna get life that is? is that the case? should we be PREPARED FOR THE SLAY? Edited October 7, 2022 by BeachRat
publikcitizen Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 This was a very well done movie. I'm glad it wasn't an exact remake of the first one. This remake offered a lot more worldbuilding and horror aspect. The puzzle box was improved. Curious if there's a plan for a sequel if this movie does well on Hulu. I was sad Brandon Flynn's character had a small part but it was cool to see him playing a gay character.
qurl Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 this was just okay. i wanted it to be a lot better. it had/has a lot of things going for it, and even tho it wasn’t exactly what i wanted it still has replay value. i appreciate that they had queer elements to a very latently queer story/franchise. i think it looked really gorgeous , tho i think some of the CGI gore effects they tried to employ ended up looking …. not great. would have preferred some painstaking practical effects , which there was still plenty of. there was a lot of pork in this movie like there’s prolly about 30 minutes of stuff that can be cut or just wrapped up/addressed easier. if they were gonna have a two hour runtime, utilize it well. also it’s hard to explain but especially towards the end some of the decisions made by the characters is just …. silly and dumb. you had the dumb douchebag of the movie being the voice of reason telling them to leave the spooky mansion that they all know damn well they shouldn’t be at. there were a bunch of little nit-picky things like that , a lot having to do with the subpar principal cast/acting …. all of that to say, i enjoyed the movie but i wish it had been better and that they had done even more with the plot / story and maybe have further explored the relationship of pleasure/pain as it relates to addiction since that was such a big part of the main character’s story. one thing this movie hit out of the park was the centobites obviously …. immaculate. miss clayton absolutely did what needed to be done with the screen time she was allotted.
Admiringamor Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 Besides the terrible acting and dialogue. VISUALLY this was everything and more!
ATRL Moderator Verge of Obscene Posted October 8, 2022 ATRL Moderator Posted October 8, 2022 they turned hellraiser into a basic slasher. wasn’t a fan. it was pretty boring for the first half & the acting…prey won.
James_Dean Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 Watching this right now... the deaths are cool, but the characters are ridiculously bad
Otana Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 Jamie Clayton is amazing wow I loved this, it wasn't very scary, but I enjoyed the way they built upon the original's lore. I wanted it to be just a little bit more gore-y, but anyways very good! Finally a good movie from this franchise after the first one that I actually don't like that much
arceus Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 The protagonist is so insufferable made it so hard to finish this movie
