Does Canada not run background checks?

Spies do all kinds of crazy and morally questionable stuff. It’s part of the job in order to maintain covert status.

The spy must be punished. But Trudeau will do nothing as expected.

I’m struggling to understand why an adult, any adult tbh, would agree to smuggle a teenage girl into Syria so she can join IS. :deadbanana4:

Enabling more terror attacks allows for governments to justify further bloating of their defense and intelligence budgets. It's all about enriching the Military Industrial Complex.

Maybe the spy in question didn’t want to blow their cover so they had to do it

It’s highly unlikely a 15 year old from the UK is going to enable more terrorist attacks… the only thing it truly ensures is death for the girl.  Couldn’t they smuggle a 27 year old instead?  Was there no one else of legal age to do this to?  :rip:

Couldn’t they have just… blocked her or stopped answering?  It’s just so very messed up.

That would still blow their cover specially if we’re working with ISIS. We don’t know all the details and we will never. But in general even if spies put the life of few in dangers and their end goal is more Valuable.

How is ghosting a 15 year old who isn’t actually part of IS considered blowing your cover?  Do you know how many extremely believable and realistic excuses they could make up to not do this?  I understand we’ll never know the details, but it’s clear this intelligence agent wasn’t very good at their job considering A) they went through with it, and B) it’s in the news, so whatever they were hoping to avoid by going through with it ended up backfiring.

If the spy didn’t help, she would have found another way. Let’s not deflect from the fact that her parents could have prevented it (or did they encourage it). Besides it’s disgusting that these sort of things still happen in the name of religion and extremism.

Yet he will be allowed to return to his country while she will not.

If he wabted her as intelligence why not allow her back?
