HDD didn't predict 1M for Lover. Even in the article, it says it was pretty uncertain for it to do 1M and they listed 3 different scenarios based on Reputation's sales and what it needs. 1M was one of those scenarios, not the most possible outcome for it. 

 

The post i quoted was saying that it predicted to do 1M and then predictions decreased thanks to the ME! release which is not true

I am not saying that ME! didn't negatively affect Lover, maybe it did but it is not possible for us to know how much it did.

Also hate the narrative that she's **** at picking (lead) singles just because of the Loser era
In every other era she picked the right lead single all things considered imo and in general her single choices are quite good
Obviously some exceptions like the mess with RFI but no artist has a flawless single run, you cant always predict what will be a hit and what not

I dont think she is scared of picking the wrong single.. there simply ISNT any single worthy  songs at all

Taylor is actually incapable of releasing an album where literally every song is a dud, and I don’t even say that as a stan. It just feels objectively true. She cares too much about her art to just release whatever she has lying around. So I think this is an even worse narrative

Well i dont think that the album will be full of duds just because i say there might be no single worthy song
Folkmore had no truly single worthy songs (and this is honestly the major reason it was a surprise release imo), yet its some of her best work
And before ppl say songs like August... i feel like it wouldnt do much better than its doing now if it was a single. Its a cult classic and will get a boost every august but it wouldnt have been a big gp hit... so like any song on folkmore

EDIT: oh and dont get me wrong, i would have LOVED if she pushed a couple more singles from folkmore with videos, performances etc... but i dont think any would have been a big hit.

I for sure thought a single or something would've came last night. The tiktok midnights mayhem is kinda getting old.

She really should have made Midnights Mayhem a week-long event, Mon-Fri, with 3-4 song titles each night. And then when revealing the last track, it would ironically be the lead single & she'd say it's out now. Don't know who thought taking a month to release a tracklist would be a good idea 

 

Either way I'm still very excited for this, very curious to know the sound!

At least she’s giving us something to look forward to by wearing different outfits.  The looks are interesting. Makes me wonder what the songs will sound like. She knows what she’s doing

Multiple titles a day would be pretty random. One a day including weekends would’ve made much more sense
