Taylor Swift - ‘Midnights’

Heard Lavender Haze on the radio the other day and it sounded heavenly. The vocal production is insane. If you compare it to how Taylor's falsetto is produced on I Think He Knows, you can tell how much AntonOFF's improved by the astronomical difference.

Lavender Haze 7904 -11

did she forget about the video? does she want this to die on radio?

Lavender SNOOZE deserves to flop. Midnight Rain or Karma should have been the next single.

m'aam have you ever streamed Sparks Fly, Last Kiss, Dear John, Innocent, Enchanted, Haunted, Long Live, or Back to December???? Speak Now is not really my fave either, but its full of career HIGHS. All of those CLEAR bored romantics (which I am just assuming you stan based on your name) though none of them come close to touching Clean, except debatably Haunted so I'll give you that one

Until recently she never even charted with her sisters, so I don’t know where anyone would get the impression that she was overrated :skull:

I said what I said, end of story :giraffe:.

And haunted might as well be the most overrated song of her career :deadbanana4:.

Speak Now has Her Magnum Opus, that's enough for the album to be in Her top 5.

The vocals really are produced far better than on Loser. LH is like ITHK done right, similar to how Labyrinth is like The Archer done right :jonny:

This is insane.

And the fact that it’s not just UK/Ireland stanning this time. It’s stable in the top 5 or at least top 10 in almost all countries with charts :deadbanana4:

Week 12:

#1 - Australia

#1 - Ireland

#1 - Scotland

#1 - United Kingdom

#2 - Belgium (Flanders)

#2 - Canada

#2 - Netherlands

#2 - New Zealand

#2 - Portugal

#2 - United States

#3 - Austria
#3 - Norway

#3 - Sweden

#5 - Germany

#6 - Denmark

#7 - Czech

#7 - Switzerland

#8 - Finland

#9 - Iceland

#11 - Spain

#12 - Slovakia

#14 - Lithuania (They didn’t combine the standard/3AM edition for some reason. Would be easily top 10 if they did :skull:)

#19 - Italy

We don’t talk about France, Belgium Wallonia or Poland, but it’s still smashing in all those for her standards and easily demolishing 1989 so :heart2:

i wonder if she'd ever have a smash hit like flowers :gaycat6: it seems like her songs didn't stick very long, let alone increasing going forward.

Probably not. Taylor’s songs have so many personality and details that hinder them to have a “universal” factor and that’s a good thing tbh

I really don't understand these types of comments. What are Love Story, You Belong With Me, I Knew You Were Trouble, Shake It Off, Blank Space or Anti-Hero if they are not smash hits? :rip:

She just never had THEE biggest song of the year because her audience actually care about her entire albums. The attention is not entirely concentrated on one single, and never has.

If people were focused on her singles the same way they are on the Flowers/AIW-type smash hits, Taylor would have never been so insanely successful with her albums. She wouldn't easily be the most streamed artist. She wouldn't be charting 9 albums on the BB200 or in any other country. She wouldn't have one of the most acclaimed discography among mainstream artists. She wouldn't be getting these kind of touring numbers.

Anything to add to the OP? (Though I think the thread closes this weekend dd)

Y’all.. Enchanted is MAGICAL. I think it’s her best song. :jonny: Jesus Christ the expansive domain that sonic landscape traverses is unfathomable :jonny:

I fear if she doesn’t capture the innocence and purity of Enchanted or the angst and fear of Haunted, Speak Now TV doesn’t stand a chance..

This better not be the stage because I will riot :biblio:

She has many already.

However, I feel like the thing about Taylor’s music is that it’s somehow meant for listening to alone or in small groups of people. With headphones, in the car, in your room. You don’t put on a Taylor song at a loud party or as chill background music in a social context imo. Maybe at a girls’ slumber party or karaoke night… Which I think is why a lot of users here downplay her hits.

It's definitely not the first time I see this shape of stage so I think this is real. It indeed looks MASSIVE. I just hope there's more to it on the main stage, but the catwalk seems to be amazing.

Exactly this. She has the all-around success which is and will always be more important than just singles. And even then, she has always had songs among the very top tier of biggest hits per year. Love Story, YBWM, IKYWT, Shake It Off, Blank Space, IDWLF and Anti-Hero are all amongst the absolute biggest songs of their respective release years.

I truly don’t understand this brewing narrative amongst Swifties that Anti-Hero’s performance is somehow underwhelming. Mostly because of a song like Flowers which is only a few days old. You can never tell how big a song will actually be based on that timeframe, so you can’t even say it’ll be bigger than Anti-Hero. Which has out-performed all expectations tenfold — it’s one of her biggest hits yet and one of the biggest from 2022. People need to understand that not being the absolute biggest =/= not being massive. Especially when you’ve got a grip on the overall picture of success like she does where you are irrefutably the biggest when it’s all added up.

What more do they want? It’s her longest-running #1 in the US, spent numerous weeks at #1 in a bunch of markets around the globe, will be her biggest streaming hit by far, revived her radio presence literally everywhere, is arguably her biggest hit outside of the US to date, and is also very much acclaimed by critics (tied for #3 of 2022) and recognizable to the GP :deadbanana4:

Someone on Twitter once described Swifties are terminally unsatisfied and it’s the most accurate label I can think of.

This is the same shape of stage that showed on the floor plan initially, and Rep Tour’s stage also showed accurately as well, just like this.

I don’t see the issue, though? It’s an absolutely massive stage and there’s nothing wrong with the design, which we know nothing of anyway aside from the size/shape. The effects are always what make or break a stage for this type of concert. I mean… I remember lots of people said the RST stage was ugly (and tbf it did look ugly on the map), but it ended up being a collapse once we saw how big it was and the effects.

Seems like a pretty good Spotify update today :clap3:
