Glad to see one of the most intelligent and articulate Swifties has returned :clap3:

You can count on one thing — no matter how long you are away from ATRL, one thing will remain constant: people’s ability to twist everything she does into something ‘evil’. We love an evil mastermind, I guess.

Right? I come back and the topic of the week is still how she’s the CEO of all capitalism and the final boss of all evils that have ever plagued the music industry. How dare she attempt to bump up a spot on a chart when she’s within reach of it anyway, and all that nonsense.

welcome back Sexy Baby! You're absence was felt tbh. We needed you to clock some of those RATS with your eloquence and intelligent posts :'(

I’ve been tempted to say a thing or two already, but that’s the fun part - she’s doing it all herself! The palpable fury in some posts is just so funny at this point. The self-owns everywhere. The same people saying the same things they were saying last year and the year before that and still pretending it’s all healthy and rational. My break made me rethink my relationship with spaces like this and now I think I’ll just enjoy the ride!

I do think it’s neat that I haven’t gotten tired of Midnights at all yet, though. Still strong at the top of my list with Evermore. I honestly don’t know how she did it. Since I last logged on, You're On Your Own, Kid has become my most played song ever, too :deadbanana2:

Do ppl like Maroon or not? I feel like I always see ppl roasting it but it's one of my faves.

She’s at the TOP right after WCS, TGW and HI but everyone keeps doing her dirty and ranking her at the bottom :deadbanana2:

It’s not for every mood, but when it hits it hits.

She nailed Taylor’s writing style and tbh I would totally stream this if it was on Apple Music

Imagine if Nothing New was on Midnights. :jonnycat: It fits better there than 80% of the alberm.

Maroon is the second best song on Midnights and people roasting it simply have no taste. :giraffe:

Omg yes though. Nothing New is also just plain one of her best songs ever - it hasn’t stopped growing on me since release and it’s in my head constantly. Sweet Nothing reminds me of it a bit, actually - and grew on me a lot from first listen, too.

Wait the melody is kind of good and how she sings the chorus sounds so much like Taylor….

Idk if this comparison makes sense but Maroon reminds me a bit of Cardigan. Obviously they don’t sound anything alike but I think it has to do with the narrative in each being very reminiscent and melancholy. Also how the choruses start similarly with “I knew you / I chose/lost you” :giraffe:

It’s time to admit that Couldn’t shouldn’t wouldn’t make the standard album and Perish are the bottom three of Midnights along with You should see me in a crown 2.0.

I hope the best song is made a singe at some point, Karma is a god indeed.

I hate to admit but yoyok has been growing on me quite a bit

The only thing I agree with here is VS being bottom 3, but Perish sent me :deadbanana:

I still can’t believe Midnight Rain is the most popular album track by a wide margin. I know it could always change given that the initial favorite can fall behind later (IDSB being a great example) and others can later rise up (DBM being a great example). However, I definitely wouldn’t have guessed it on first listen or even second or third listen. It’s one of my favorites on the album though.

The YOYOK bridge is top 10 of her career

YOYOK is the ‘Tis The Damn Season/RWYLM, Treacherous, Illicit Affairs, etc of the album. All perfect songs of course

YOYOK is the bottom 3

The increases are mainly christmas albums falling off...

But yeah a lot of people, especially in the US, switched back from listening to christmas music to listening to Taylor.

Speak Now should easily chart, yes

Tier 1 - Maroon, WCS, TGW, BTTWS, HI. The career highlights.

Tier 2 - LH, AH, Bejeweled, Karma, MR. The bops.

Tier 3 - Paris, Mastermind, Labyrinth, SN, DR. The cool tracks.

Tier 4 - SOTB, YOYOK, Glitch. The meh but not bad tracks. Good effort but could be better.

Tier 5 - Question...?, VS. The ones we want gone.
