DeuxMoi reported this morning, and now the infamous Roger Friedman has heard this from his own source:

There are rumblings that Madonna’s deal for a self-directed biopic at Universal may be “frozen,” to quote a song title.

Things seem to be on the “Borderline.”

Why is the movie “Hung Up”?

It seems skeptics are predicting that the film, which Madonna has been writing and plans to direct, is simply not coming together.

For instance, there is still no one signed to Madge. She says they put out an offer to Julia Garner, currently nominated for two Emmy Awards. But no deal has ever been made. Frankly, Garner would be wise to stay away from this project.

Then there’s the screenplay. When the movie was first announced, Madonna posted cuddly pictures of herself and Diablo Cody writing the script. But Cody left the project last year was replaced by Erin Cressida Wilson, who may not be around any more either.

Madonna told Variety a few weeks ago that she had a very long screenplay and couldn’t decide what to cut. Frankly, she’d be better off with a mini series unless this movie focuses on one specific incident or time frame.

The singer is currently on the charts with box set of remixed dance hits. A Madonna insider told me: “With Madonna, she could have changed her mind and decided to a new album. You just don’t know.”

Not ATRL posting something from Roger Friedman :dies:

He hates her!

That said, I think she should abandon the idea. I'd rather her focus on her next era tbh. Maybe even release it during the reissues, who knows....and then go on tour once she's recovered.

Not surprised, there probably isn't much demand for a Madonna biopic anyway

LMAO, shocker. You could tell from those ridiculous paid articles how desperate she was to move the project along. It was hilarious to see how many people here seriously believed that actresses like Julia Garner, Florence Pugh and the entire white cast of Euphoria, who are constantly working and fielding offers left and right, would spend months in some bootcamp, FIGHTING to star in a vanity project directed by a 9-time Razzie winner.

ATRL really opened registration for stuff like this? :deadbanana4:

OT: this wasn’t going well anyways, it’s for the best.

Madonna directing and writing this is such an OBVIOUS mistake. But her ego is just too big.

Is anyone surprised? The whole idea had potential but the moment Madonna revealed that she would be heavily involved in the project it was bound to become a mess. :sistrens:

Named Madonna. The names Madonna. It's a big name. Huge. You know the highest selling female artist of all time... The movie isn't about her acting or the next best thing. You aren't making sense here at all

So members can not use nicknames for celebrities, yet at the same time use pictures like THAT for an avatar for madonna only? (because everyone gets BANNED instantly when they use similar pics for other stars)

the hatred you allow against this woman on this forum is too much

get your **** together @ATRL Administration

and full of lies and misogyny and TERRIBLY written. full of clichés and like any other cheap lifetime tv docu. but it was basic and simple, and wannabe director and women hater wanted to make it, so of course the studios wanted it and you people would support it

Madonna should've NEVER been the director for this. It should've been David Fincher, she discovered him and brought him to prominence with the "Express Yourself" video in 1989, they even dated for a short bit. He was in her world in those days and would get it completely, and is an amazing director. And with a good enough script, that again Madonna should've only been an advisor for and NOT the main writer, I'm sure Fincher would've said yes.

But no, ego and hubris had to win.
