I just rewatched this and couldn’t believe how good it was ? it really was on another level…. She knew she had to deliver after Gaga’s paparazzi performance.

I always forget that the Britney/Madonna kiss performance was technically promo for the 'American Life' album  The way every single Madonna era manages to have at least one 'moment'

They did after Madonna's performance. I mean, most intelligent folk watching would have understood the correlation to Marie Antoinette from the start. Vincent Paterson (Madonna's Choreographer) said quote: "Voguing wasn't that much different to the gestures of Marie Antoinette's court and the way they posed and the way they held themselves, the various situations they would create with their physicality", and that's when they came up with the idea for Madonna to act as Marie Antoinette with her dancers as members of the court, it makes perfect sense.

Where does that suggest that the GP associates Marie Antoniette imagery with Madonna?  Maybe they did for a brief period in 1990, but not now…

A brief period in 1990 Surely you can't be serious. That performance is still heavily discussed and dissected by the GP today by people who aren't ignorant and know their history. Who do you think most people see when they look at Madonna dressed in Marie Antoinette's wedding gown? Rupaul?

I’m not really a Britney fan but her satisfaction/oops performance deserves top 5. That performance rocked the world. I remember watching it live so epic.
