If they said- ''nuff with that water every f-ing day, u fat b-itch'' I'd stop. This way, I'm going shopping in a few days to replace their rotten bodies with freshly, blossomy buddies. But **** i wish plants were able to talk.

They like to dry out completely before watering again or you will end up with root rot Ok let me empty the cermamics plates and throw the water out of the window. BRB
Grumpy Cat Posted August 28, 2022 Posted August 28, 2022 (edited) I need to buy a decent looking cup. This annoys me but the blossom is beautiful (edit- i dont watch tv so I've covered it fully in flowers. I just hate tv and its not even connected. What u see turned on is just the internet router. ) Idk the name but it was super cheap (less than 1 euro so I bought it like...10 days ago or something) I have tropical-floral themed boxes where I put my junk for work if anyone wants to see Edited August 28, 2022 by Grumpy Cat

But the squash I was growing this year died of root rot. I never had that. Only Squash Vine Borers but those mostly attack zucchini and leave butternut type squashes alone.

About half are quite young and might take awhile to mature and flower I fear but it'll be worth it. WAIT! Not a fellow orchid loving Kiwi! Ahh! I mainly have Catasetums and Dendrobiums but hoping to get some more Phals soonish. What species of Phals and Dends do you have? I'm so jealous of overseas girlies who can import nursery stock as is while the only financially viable option we have is tissue culture (which itself is a niche af market). I'd say the majority of mine are still in their infancy but some have surprised me with blooms. --- Besides Orchids I've been trying to get into Anthuriums but the really gorgeous ones are so expensive here. Dabble in outdoor gardening but mainly with tomatoes because they are my lifeline.

I have one mini Phal tho and it's also a no ID but it has spotted leaves and tiny pink/peach and yellow flowers that have a really nice sweet fragrance. No idea what my Dens are any more as I've recently lost the ID tags Where do you buy yours? Other than paknsav and mitre10 I've only used TradeMe lol

Most of my phals came from the Warehouse haha and yeah are no ID too. None are fragrant though sadly. Tbh there's only like Tuckers and TradeMe. But Facebook is a good place (Ninox orchids and Orchid Obsession are pretty good sellers, you can message them to see if they have anything specific in stock plus they usually sell on TradeMe too). There's Eva's Orchids, she does Cymbidiums if you're into those kinds of orchids. The majority come from TradeMe, then FB messaging, and then Tuckers. For phals, Orchid obsession probably offers the more exotic varieties. But my stupid ass always forgets about the auctions and lose them when they go for cheap ? Edit: oh! Forgot about shows! They usually have sellers but I've never gone to one since they were always so far away but hoping to go to the Auckland Spring Show I think that's next week?
Ash12345 Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 Got into growing Roselle. You can make a tea from the calyxes, which taste kind of like red currant or cranberries. It's in the hibiscus family and related to okra, so it has pretty flowers, but instead of okra pods, it'll get loaded with these burgundy coloured calyxes (which look like flower buds) in late summer/fall. Here's what the calyxes look like a bit more close-up (basket on the left).
ThehushSound Posted September 21, 2022 Posted September 21, 2022 As far as houseplants go i have a soft spot for Aglaonema. They are very easy to care for and come in quite a few different forms and colors. I managed to snag two from work that I have been looking for for a while, a golden madonna and a rubi. https://www.instagram.com/p/CiwC3WcJ1UY/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
