publikcitizen Posted September 24, 2023 Posted September 24, 2023 I think it’ll hit $250 M total gross? A third nun movie will be happening for sure

Bocanada Posted September 25, 2023 Posted September 25, 2023 Really loved the movie. Way better than the 1rst one 1

Sweetestsecret Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 $232M on box office. The most successful horror movie of the year! https://www.boxofficemojo.com/title/tt10160976/?ref_=bo_se_r_2 3
Hurem Posted October 8, 2023 Posted October 8, 2023 I watched The Nun 2 yesterday, and I went in with low expectations because I absolutely hated the first one. To my surprise, I found this one to be... actually good? It isn't a masterpiece, but it's quite entertaining. The visuals are, in my opinion, the best part of the movie. I'm glad they realized how stupid it was for Valak to have so little screen time in the first film and decided to give us more of it. The story was okay, although it felt a bit thin at times. It was good enough to keep me engaged, unlike the first movie, which I found incredibly boring. However, I didn't like how easily the main characters overcame obstacles, making it seem a bit too effortless to defeat Valak. This film is undeniably the cash grab of the Conjuring universe, but at least it is enjoyable. I hope we get a third one where Irene, Debra, and Maurice go on a hunt for Valak to put an end to her once and for all. Overall, I give it a 6.5/10 3

Bocanada Posted October 8, 2023 Posted October 8, 2023 Wow, another success for Miss Valak Can it outperform Annabelle 1?

Aston Martin Posted October 9, 2023 Posted October 9, 2023 Just saw it and it was good for what it was. Plot seems kind of contradictory given how the first one ended and The Conjuring 2 played out, but the writing was a solid step up from the first. Spoiler I went back and rewatched the Maurice scene from The Conjuring 1, and it looks like we now know who the wife he tries to kill and ends up shooting in the arm is

PaloSanto Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 well I had low expectations but it was kinda mid. It's definitely a better movie than the first one but it's also more generic and less interesting visually. The original benefited a lot from that amazing gothic aesthetic and set and the score was . This one was more of a standard looking horror movie. I feel like having all these movies tied into the main Conjuring timeline is a disservice. There's a lot of interesting lore they could be exploring with different saints and holy relics and demons trying to get to them or whatever but all that is underutilized in order to keep the universe connected. A sort of anthology approach with different saints/relic/prince of hell entity and a one off team of heroes all very loosely tied by small scene where they place the relics at the end all on the archive safe room would give the writers more room to explore better themes and narratives. Like use the demons to exploit the heroes guilt or past sins (it IS a catholic heavy mythology series and the ONE thing that goes like butter and bread with catholicism is guilt why are they not taking advantage of that ). The demons could really be using that to taunt the heroes or to test their faith with temptation, it would be so effective. But guess they need to keep the propaganda and not upset the church by having a closeted priest or a lesbian nun or parents of a dead or abused child.

Sexyzinger Posted October 11, 2023 Posted October 11, 2023 I can’t believe it has made almost a $100 million more than Scream 6 already

Patient Zero Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 I can't believe how much talent gets wasted on movies like this one. The movie is beautiful to look at, but it's so bad when it comes to everything else. Horror movies need better writers and directors.
fountain Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 It was better than the original but still rather mid.
