Queen. Posted August 24, 2022 Posted August 24, 2022 The government’s student loan sites are crashing after debt relief announcement Quote The plan announced on Wednesday doesn’t provide blanket loan cancellation — those with a personal income over $125,000 (or double that if they’re married and file taxes jointly) aren’t eligible for forgiveness, and people who received Pell Grants will have more debt canceled than those who didn’t. The complexity has wound up leaving a lot of people confused and looking for a way to check their eligibility, which has apparently not meant great things for the government’s student loan sites. BlondGuts Posted August 24, 2022 Posted August 24, 2022 I’ve been trying to get on the phone since the morning with my SL servicer for an unrelated issue. They said they’d call me back in 30 minutes and 5 hours later they have not LOL
L0verb0y Posted August 24, 2022 Posted August 24, 2022 I think the confusion comes from people not knowing if they received Pell Grants or not. I remember hearing the term Pell Grants when I was going through the process, but unclear if they were part of my financial aid. Crossing my fingers they were lol.
Jotham Posted August 24, 2022 Posted August 24, 2022 I'm not even going to bother looking at the loan website for at least another week since I'm sure there's going to be so much traffic for a while.
Rican Posted August 24, 2022 Posted August 24, 2022 Does anyone know if it will be automatic forgiveness or will there be a application process?
