Such a shame.... No idea where she and her team will go from this. Afaik the tour isn't doing well either? Damn. I hope they part ways cuz they ain't doing anything for her apart of constantly booking those Jimmy shows

Label excuse :deadbanana:

Her team/management/label has tried everything before this album. Grammy performance (Anyone), TTH (I love Me and Met Him Last Night), Big Collab (Ariana), documentary.

All these things still couldn't result in a single hit, of course at this point she is considered bad investment and from the looks of things I think her label were right to not pump anymore money.

Kinda crazy how much the ex-Disney girls fell off (music-wise in Selena’s case) :doc:

There was a thread a few weeks ago that her theater tour is struggling to sell and was 37% sold out.

Her music flopped with label investment and flops without label investment. There is no difference.

What exactly do ya want from the label? To keep spending funds until something clicks? The music and the image attach to it simply isn’t profitable.:michael:

yes they literally tried everything in her previous era.

- Sam, Ariana and multiple other droplet features

- Songs playlisted (Sam song, Ariana song, I Love Me)

- Documentaries

- Live performances

Literally nothing worked. Demi fans expecting label to throw their money and in return for albums that won't scan gold in single country :toofunny3:

Sabrina's last album literally debuted with barely 3M lol

Are we expecting Sabrina Carpenter to pull MPG’s numbers now? The bar is in hell.

I definitely remember the TTH placements for the Sam Smith and Ariana songs and the Sam song bombed so hard that I don’t think it was included on the album. I remember clearly it being #1 on TTH :toofunny3:

And they both debuted with almost 3M streams which would boost the album for sure. And I don't think TTH is the only playlisting that exist. I am talking about actually having a high playlisting reach for album tracks. The tracks literally had 0 playlisting:rip:

Selena's last studio album had a Hot 100 #1 and over 6x as many Spotify streams in its debut as this with less tracks, I don't really think they're comparable at this point :toofunny2: Even her Spanish EP doubled this.

Hope Demi finds a label that aligns with their vision for Demi's career.

No one said that.. But it was to prove that t he problem is the label and not the artist! Even Shawn is flopping

I mean...she's had a good run. She's been commercially successful for basically a decade. No one lasts forever. Hope she stays in music though while looking for other ventures to create income

you see a lot of people wanted pop/rock demi back, but the paramore-ashlee simpson power pop/rock style she used to do back in Disney, not this post-grunge, 90s alt-rock extravaganza she dropped. the demi casuals enjoy her fun bops. They want her to have fun and have fun listening yo her music again. Keep in mind that cool for the summer had a cute comeback recently and was bigger on Spotify than any demi single from her last two projects. demi is still in their angst/introspective phase. this one at least works better than her previous as a reflection of what they’ve been through, but most of her listeners clearly don’t gravitate towards these topics. One day when she’s actually out of this phase she might have a cute comeback, but until then only those interested in her celebrity and diaristic writing will stick around. This one is better than their previous and kudos for exploring a new sound, even when it comes off as 90s pastiche of better stuff. I hope her next is less Pretty on the Inside and more Celebrity Skin (out of the eye of the storm and mature)

I love this album but these numbers are pretty much expected.. demi single handedly tarnished her public image these past three years. The GP just don’t f*** with her anymore sadly.

I think you’d have a point if Demi’s songs were peaking/charting during their debut week and then falling off, but the singles aren’t making any noise at all. The real tea is just that Demi’s brand is shot. We can’t even assess if people like the music because they aren’t even listening to it once.

It is what it is. Everyone’s career has a shelf-life, at least the fans are getting good music.

Demi’s team definitely did some work for her during the last era, but that work was wasted on bad songs (Anyone, ILM, I’m Ready, WOPS), when the Ariana collab should have been seriously pushed as her main shot at a hit that era. Combine that with their own antics destroying their brand, and none of this is surprising.

You reap what you sow. It’s just annoying that their best project will be the one that gets the least love.

A shame because this album is great, but as others have said - not surprising numbers after being labeled as Hollywoods most insufferable.

but there are some different elements at play here. This album is a through and through hard rock album, so comparatively in the genre she’s doing fine. That said, her name alone should bring in more streams than that.

I hope this doesn’t deter her from making music that is real to her. Her last two albums have been her most enjoyable work by far (even if her company crafted pop songs are some of her best) - just wish she could find that sweet spot between good music and tailor-made for radio songs.

I mean this isn’t surprising…

Low key all the pronoun stuff I think has turned people off to her…it is certainly annoying to see it in the news. Like, you gotta pick one set of pronouns and stay with it instead of switching back and forth constantly. You do you but we don’t need to see it.

I'm sorry to the Demi stans but :bibliahh:

Expected. Demi has a lot of work to do on her image before people are going to take her seriously again. Sadly. Great album, but Demi is lacking her cool factor she use to have. Not many people relate to her subjects. I think she’s in a slump, but she isn’t over

A colosal Bomb :hoetenks:but this was expected

It’s a bump in the road for sure.

I thought people would be here for that sound from her but I guess her image is really affecting the interest in her music.
