Brysexual Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 Megan’s Traumazine is seeing a lot of rave reviews from critics, however, due to a choppy pre release campaign, the sophomore effort isn’t opening with the best sales. (40-50k) **Megan has never been an “album artist”** According to Spotify, Megan’s “Her” was the #9 best debut song over the weekend (Worldwide). The video is trending on YouTube #2 - U.S. #7 - Worldwide Although she didn’t release the best singles before the album drop, it seems that “Her” is actually resonating with the GP. If “Her” actually becomes a hit for Megan domestically and internationally, can Megan salvage the “Traumazine” era and continue to solidify herself as the “IT” girl in Rap/Pop culture? Lets discuss!
Massive_Teardrop Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 I’m checking for Megan and believe in her talent. She can do it.
Rotunda Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 Megan’s always been a singles artist and may always be one. I think she should try to be a feature girl, and get some sizable collabs to keep her afloat as she keeps trying to re-solidify herself.
professor2000 Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 I was gonna make a similar thread, but more about if she can recover from the era overall. Despite her label situation being shitty, I’m still not sure the surprise release made sense. And could bite her in the ass long-term. But can she have moderate success this era? For sure. There are a lot of great songs on the album + could go viral. As for long term, I hope she has a big ass re-launch/re-branding with a new (hopefully major) label on the horizon.
MingYouToo Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 omg HER IS A BOP! She deserves the world, rebound miss thang!

Bey_Rihstan Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 Anyway, I mean Sure. Megan is a rapper which means she has the luxury of flopping and coming back even if this era doesn’t rebound. plenty of rappers do it. A flop album isn’t as much of a detriment to her career as it would be for a pop girl

BGKC Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 She has a few songs that’s have moderate hit potential at the least. Even if they aren’t the biggest hits, it will turn out to be a very solid and impactful era for her where the talent will do all the talking. The visuals and choreo will also go viral without a question. Can’t wait for the VMAs performance that’s sure to devour.
AMX Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 Megan is everywhere, celebrities name drop her left and right, her album is critically acclaimed and fans have been praising it. She could debut with 40k and she would remain the it rap girl.
Jude Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 I hope Her becomes a major hit for Meg coz that beat whew, it's so infectious.
PoisonPill Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 Unfortunately, even the most successful female rappers are usually relegated as singles artists or feature girls. Audiences seem more interested in them as sex objects and memes than their artistic identity.
blueberries Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 no, the overtly sexual female rapper shtick is tired
Protocol Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 She has a high enough profile that with the right song it's absolutely possible. And this project may yet have legs.
reymiu Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 She should have collabed w Summer Walker rather than Dua Lipa Doja worked w SZA Cardi worked w Kehlani, Normani
