The “Why do you like a girl?” or “that’s for girls” or “stop acting like that” a lot of gay boys go/went thru just made the community feel obligated to own it. It’s a way to embrace the stigma attached to being feminine as a man, so they use it as a term of endearment and resilience amongst each other.
