My whole routine is basically Dr Jart products (I don’t cleanse in the morning, when I stopped my skin improved immensely) and I also use this ‘pH Formula’ cream that is great. Their face masks are :flame: too

My question is more haircare based but it’s also to do with The Ordinary so I’m gonna ask anyway

has anyone tried their shampoo and conditioner? I’m curious if it’s good or not

So who are y'alls favorite skin care TikTokers? :gaycat2:

Charlotte Parler and labmuffinbeautyscience! I mostly follow them in insta though.

I recently started HRT and it has been drying my skin so bad. I’m usually pretty good at getting my skin what it needs but I am struggling to keep moisture in. I’m finding that my skin does not do well with HA. Does anyone have any product recommendations?

Wow reading all this was intimidating. If I have dark spots/acne scars what would you guys recommend? I see a lot of people mentioning retinol and tretinoin but what do they specifically do?

Hmm so I think what I'm looking for right now is a cleanser and maybe dabbling into ret and tret (probably just one of them). I already use a basic moisturizer (Cera Ve) but I wanna expand :gaycat4:

Question about DIFFERIN

its my first retinoid, so I’ve been following the instructions and using it once a day.

my question is, when do I stop? When do I switch to a different retinol? It’s working and really clearing up my acne and scarring, but I’m wondering if I should just continue til it stops working? Then should be switch to something stronger that I use a few times per week instead?

Nnn after doing some research online I just ended up going with this :gaycat2:

I also wanna target some acne scars and dark spots and I read Niacinimide is good for it. Does anyone have experience using this?

Wow, I feel like I already feel a physical texture difference in my skin after using the cleanser and the retinol cream :deadbanana2:

Besides the other two you posted, I ended up buying the PM lotion after doing more research :gaycat1:Don't need the Am one since my current lotion/sunscreen I use in the morning has niacinamide already in it lol. CeraVe all the way :gaycat2:

I’m glad that you’re loving Cerave since that’s the only skincare I’ve been having and I tried La Roshe-Posé(?) and it was eh considering it was a top of the line brand.

should I be using the Cerave retinol instead of Differin?

I've been on Differin for 3ish weeks and the results are slowly starting

Differin can be used continuously because it can also be used to prevent future acne. If you stop using it, the acne may come back.

Differin is a specialised retinoid for acne. If anti ageing is more your concern, retinol (I.e. from Cerave) will be more suitable

Retinol or tretinoin are great for dark spots! They basically speed up the generation of fresh skin cells so that the old darkened skin cells get replaced faster. Retinol is more gentle than tretinoin so retinol is recommended for beginners.

other dark spot tips:

- sunscreen everyday to prevent the dark spots from becoming more pigmented

- Ascorbic acid in the morning can inhibit the enzyme that causes pigment from forming. Best used in a serum because it needs specialised formulation to be stable.

- Niacinamide in your sunscreen, or moisturiser or a dedicated serum can be used morning and/or night. It can stop the transfer of pigment from pigment makers to the upper skin cells

- Chemical exfoliants (BHAs or AHAs) slough off the darkened skin cells on the top surface of the skin. Cleanser format is better if beginner.

- introduce these ingredients gradually and slowly work up the frequency of use! If you go ham, it will cause irritation, which equals worsened hyperpigmentation.

Is anyone having laser hair removal on the face plus using Tretinoin? I would definitely want to know how your routine works.

I've had really good luck with this serum. It's affordable and at Target too.

is there any SPF 50 Body lotion? Or should I apply body lotion and then put some sun screen on top of it?

Germany is burning like hell :hoetenks:

There are a lot of moisturizers with SPF in it! If you want them separate, then you'll have to look into chemical vs. physical sunscreens because they are different in application when using other products.

FLOP

just go with retinol/retinal/tretinoin or adapalene

Only if it's combined with real retinol, it could be a way to start using retinol with a product that contains small dosage of retinol + bakuchiol (that it's less aggressive) unless you can start using only retinol in higher dosage.

I've been wanting to try out Biologique Recherche p50 as an exfoliant, but god it's such pain in the ass to get. I really don't feel like going to random beauty salons just to buy it (I probs know more than the bimbos working there lbr), and nobody does delivery. Oh well, just opened The Ordinary's Toning Solution, we'll see how that goes

Anyone has a recommendation for retinol? I'm using The Ordinary's but I kinda hate how oily it is and it has a weird scent. Would get the LRP or Paula's Choice one if I had the money...

What brand do you use? I started using a retinol in may and it surprisingly is making a huge difference. I didn’t even start using it for the anti aging, more so the acne, but it’s done wonders fading the dark areas under my eyes, etc.. I started putting it on my hands too so I don’t end up like Madge.
