Also what is this crap about satanism and she didn’t mock her for her feminism she said back up your words with your actions. That has nothing to do with feminism, but with character -

You're just being untrue. She went back online and wrote posts about Beyoncé having Satan on her side. And she also clearly said that unlike Beyoncé whose female empowerment are just words, she lives that ****.

She also said Beyoncé and Pharrell comploted behind her back in an attempt to hurt and attack her in a passive-aggressive way. Those are her own words because of a 10 seconds interpolation. And you think she had a right to it?

Cant we have a nuanced discussion about black women in the music industry without it being a stan war when I like both artists anyway :michael:

But who is not having a nuanced debate here? You are saying Beyoncé should back up her words with actions thus implying she does not when this is not a feminist issue at all. The interpolation sounded like Milshake so Bey had her lawyers clear the sample.

Kellis isn’t even credited on Milkshake :rip: Maybe if she wanted to be credited she should‘ve written/produced it?

This is more about my views of how the impact and artistry of black women have been exploited/discredited/disregarded in the industry (including Bey early in her career) and how Bey as literally the most successful black singer of our generation is in a unique position to make things right and change the way the industry works -

She is changing plenty, not only for black women but for black people in general. She is however not Jesus, and shouldn't be required to bear the crux for others.

I would also like to point out to you that Beyoncé didn't enter the studio with the idea of sampling Kelis and she also didn't work with Pharrell. She made a song, added a lalala at the end. It turned out the lalala could be misconstrued as Milshake lalala or Teena Marie's so she credited the writers of Milshake and went about her business. For people like you to imply while being serious that she should have called Kelis for that or that she should have used that occasion to get into a legal battle with Pharrell to fight for Kelis' masters is insanity.

Love Kelis and her entire discography, have been a lifelong fan and always will be… but she should’ve never acted the fool. Coming for Bey personally and all of that when she was credited. A disaster. This is the right way for it to end.

Glad to remind Beyoncé she's not the queen of the universe, not matter how much she self divinise herself and she cares more for her writting camps.

Thanks to Kelis and disabled people for making the vinyl and CD even more of a collector's item. :clap3:

Kelis stopping Pharrell's bag, love that for her :clap3:

Most hilarious part of all this are stans thinking that the "performed by" gave Kelis credit and she'd be getting a royalty based on that. A stan says something without any proof or basis and other stans from Twitter to ATRL just start regurgitating it :skull:

this. :bibliahh:

Why are people acting like Beyonce herself pulled the sample and decided to put it in the song and this 'shows her' and 'makes her realize she isn't the center of the world'? Could very well have happened, but there's a better chance that one of the other producers on this song found the sample, added it to the song, Beyonce thought it sounded great, and that was that.

also if you don't think kelis is doing this for a look then you're out of your mind - she has a cooking blog and lives off of whatever Nas throws her in child support

She's sad and pathetic.

Due to these removals, I might buy the CD to preserve the originals.

That’s the thing!

Beyoncé literally could have not credited her, and no one would have even noticed. There are so many interpolations that people are assuming are other people songs like “Nasty Nasty Girl” in Pure/Honey (Janet, Vanity 6, etc).

Beyoncé was actually doing the right thing and it still backfired because Kelis was walking in ego.

Screaming this is my takeaway as well. @Reverse Warholian :deadbanana4:

It’s been updated on YouTube now. My Spotify download is still the original and I doubt it’s going to get changed unless I delete it first.

After reading a few pages of this thread, a lot of y'all are ******* idiots and have 0 idea how the industry works. Bringing up dumbass strawman arguments and all of a sudden being Kelisions (I'm ACTUALLY a Kelis fan).

Some of you dislike the Queen and that's okay, but shielding yourself with Kelis Rogers of all people in this case is :toofunny2:. Bey did everything right that she needed to do, now Kelis looks foolish calling Bey all types of names, accusing her of "copying her" her whole career & "joking" she's a satanist. I get her frustration with Pharrell, but Bey literally has nothing to do with that.

Beyoncé not acknowledging and simply removing her will always be a kii.

Posted

Imagine thinking you deserve a call or saying that someone’s a satanist and steals your art over some lalalas that don’t even sound the same and were credited just in case. Kelis looks a FOOL. :rip:

Kelis won. Beyonce is over wbk :clap3:

So instead of being graceful and thanking Beyonce for exposing her 20 year old song to a new generation, she caused all this drama and got taken OFF the song. Sounds about right. No wonder she has no career left.

Truly baffling, and I don't like that she's enabling this trend of changing music after it's released. She being Kelis—I can see why Bey (or a producer) would rather remove the sample than try to negotiate.

Ultimately, it's just disappointing that Kelis couldn't have been more amenable about it, because then maybe they could have worked something out. She clearly must still have beef because there was no need for all that :rip:
