Typa Girl is such an odd track choice imo... it's giving a rando Money rehash that could've been a filler track 11 on a full length Lisa solo album. How is this boring demo a track 3 on a tight 8 track album

Yeah 
It feels like a cute lil Pretty Savage-esque throwaway demo that they never finished but somehow decided to add it onto the album
The instrumental is so empty and its simply nowhere near as crisp and doesnt hit as hard as Pretty Savage 
i think if they finished the demo and added a bit more to it, it would be a great album track.. for now i'd give it like a 7/10

So my initial reaction was I liked shut down but I didn't love it bc it felt like it was missing something (a bridge) and although I liked how the mv wasn't cutty like pv I wasn't a fan of the overall homage concept bc I wanted something completely new, in contrast I LOVED pv (song) initially and still do now

 

anyways now ive had some time to let the song and album marinate I LOVE shut down (even more than pink venom) its honestly the perfect single choice I think insiders hated on it too much and overhyped YYY too much bc YYY def feels like an album track like I cant see this working as a single and I feel the chorus could be better

 

also I like the shut down mv now bc all the white against more bright and bold colours look so beautiful, I like how its a little more simple compared to their past mv's which are so extravagant I cant focus on anything (e.g. the pv dance break) whereas here the simple white garage against their bright outfits makes them POP and the freestyle scenes are so fun

 

the only other song I could see being successful as a single is typa girl which is my favourite track, those pre chorus vocals  Jennie's rap verse was great too

 

I was a little annoyed at HTL being solo before release but rosé sounds great on it and suits the song so well, its def one of the highlights from born pink and is much better than otg and gone which makes me question which she didn't go with this for her solo debut 

 

their vocals in thg are great but idk after hearing the Natalie demo I feel like it worked better with her and this song doesnt sound like blackpink

 

tally was a cute addition I like it

 

rfl being on the album was the biggest mistake its the only song I hate listening to and feels so out of place with the other songs, I would've rather the album was 7 songs than have that be included

 

ironically tho the only other complaint I have is the lack of songs bc although its the same length as the album for some reason it feels like its missing more songs, it felt like they were just getting started in born pink and it cut off too early and abruptly and I think rfl contributes to that feeling by being the closer

 

also I dont get why this album was described as so rap heavy when imo their vocals shine the most in this album than any of their past work, rosé in particular shines so well and I love all the harmonies

 

overall I feel like this was way better than the album which ironically felt more like a playlist and felt less true to their sound with songs like ice cream (which ive grown to enjoy and appreciate) and bet you wanna (which sounds like a LM reject), this on the other hand felt like the best of blackpink shining through a new and interesting way e.g. with use of an anti-drop and a classical sample in their two singles

Yes, it does kinda feel like a demo, but I find that its emptiness in fact adds to its charm. It kinda sounds like a minimalistic track from Revival. It has more replay than a Pretty Savage imo
