The celebs who have racked up the most CO2 emissions this year using their private jets

  1. Taylor Swift - 8,293.54 tonnes
  2. Floyd Mayweather - 7,076.8 tonnes
  3. Jay-Z - 6,981.3 tonnes
  4. A-Rod - 5,342.7 tonnes
  5. Blake Shelton - 4,495 tonnes
  6. Steven Spielberg - 4,465 tonnes
  7. Kim Kardashian - 4,268.5 tonnes
  8. Mark Walberg - 3,735.2 tonnes
  9. Oprah Winfrey - 3,493.17 tonnes
  10. Travis Scott - 3,033.3 tonnes

From data sourced by digital agency Yard it has been concluded that Taylor Swift is the #1 CO2 celebrity emitter of 2022 from the first 7 months of the year.

"Racking up a total of 170 flights on her private jet since January, Taylor has amassed a vast 22,923 minutes in the air, or 15.9 days. Considering that she is not currently touring, this is a huge amount. Taylor’s average flight time is 80 minutes with an average of 139.36 miles per flight."

It is almost one flight per day. Estimates gather that the average American person produces 1,540 tonnes of C02 in their lifetime. Which would mean that the jet setting of these celebrities would amount to from 3 lifetimes of an average person to almost 6 lifetimes worth of CO2 from Taylor in just 7 months.

Also considering the latest criticism directed at Kylie Jenner at her "climate terrorist" actions with her short flights, how do you feel about her not appearing inside the Top 10?

Another source from the AV Club: Clench your teeth and take a look at the private jet flight patterns of the rich and famous  which covers the Twitter account that tracks the flight patters of private jets also confirms the logic behind all these names appearing inside the Top 10.

Just today as we speak the Celebrity Jets twitter account confirms that Swift has taken two flights with the total being 25 tons of C02 emitted.

UPDATE: Rolling Stone reaches out to Taylor's representative

and she didn't even tour.. shame on her and everyone else

She only tours on less than 10 countries so it doesn't matter. :bird:

Can't wait for her to use greenwashing for her next album campaign, the same way she piggy bagged LGBT rights and Feminism.

Her average flight time is very low considering how many times she must have flown across the Atlantic Ocean… there must be lots of small flights dragging the average down. It makes me think they must count every connection separately?

she needs to be held accountable

How credible is this?

Shame on these celebrities if true. To be completely honest with you I think it’s deceptive and gaslighting of the media to constantly point fingers at the average citizen to fix climate change - the bulk of the burden to fix climate change needs to be focused on corporations, governments and high net worth individuals. The big guys are the biggest problem and if we could get them to get their **** together first, it would do the most help the fastest.  I hope the avg citizen still recycles and all that, but we need to call out the real problem first.

Well, at least she isn't pretending to care about the environmental issue while doing the opposite of what she preaches this time. :fishing:

Makes you wonder if it was more than just security reasons that she wanted to take that account down :coffee2:

If this data's accurate.

exactly. telling people to recycle, take shorter showers etc is laughable when something like factory farming runs rampant.
