Grace Jones is a feature on Beyonce's "Move" - a song from her upcoming album "Renaissance" releasing on 7/29.

This collaboration comes years after Grace Jones refused to work with Lady Gaga & slammed her repeatedly in her memoir & several interviews calling her "obsessed", "no soul", "copycat", "desperate", etc.

What about Lady Gaga?

She is obsessed!” Ms. Jones said, laughing dismissively. “She’s been trying to get me to work with her forever. She’s even gone to my brother in L.A. to get him to try and talk me into it.

Asked how she felt about Gaga, Jones responded: “I really don’t think of her at all. I go about my business.” And what of accusations that Gaga had taken her style? “Well, you know, I’ve seen some things she’s worn that I’ve worn, and that does kind of piss me off.” Has Gaga asked her to collaborate? “Yes, she did, but I said no,” Jones responded. “I’d just prefer to work with someone who is more original and someone who is not copying me, actually.

'Gaga came to me and I just could not find a soul,' Jones, 67, explained during an interview on SiriusXM's Bevelations, according to Us Weekly. 'I come from church, maybe that has something to do with it,' she added. 'I like to get to the soul of a person. I just didn’t feel a soul.

It was also widely speculated that Gaga was the mystery "Doris" figure that Grace Jones ripped apart in her book:

"With this one, who I will call Doris, I thought she was trying on other people’s outfits: she’s a baby in a closet full of other people’s clothes, a little girl playing dress-up, putting on shoes that don’t fit. I could see what she wanted to be when I watched her doing something when she started out that was starker and purer. Deep down, she doesn’t want to do all the dressing-up nonsense; she loses herself inside all the play-acting.

I look at Doris and I think: Does she look happy? She looks lost, like she is desperately trying to find the person she was when she started. She looks like really she knows she is in Vegas, now that Vegas is the whole entertainment world filtered through the internet, through impatient social media. I don’t mind her dressing up, but when she started to dance like Madonna, almost immediately, copying someone else, it was like she had forgotten what it was about her that could be unique. Ultimately, it is all about prettiness and comfort, however much they pretend they are being provocative."

Beyonces the bigger star, artist and an icon to the black community. It’s easy why she’d say yes

She rejected Gaga just so you could make this thread and have another pile-on session with the rest of the Hive.

Wow! I had no idea Grace Jones hated Gaga that much!

Beyonce simply has TABS, which is something Gaga simply never has attained. Grace knows it, we all know it! :cm:

Working with lady ga ga would be beneath her.

Working with Beyoncé would be an honour, even for Grace Jones.

now why she read her like that? :ahh:

Oh wow Grace Jones seemed so pressed in that interview. :bibliahh:

It's probably cause Gaga managed to be 1000x times more famous and impactful.

But the Gaga Stans in the other thread said Bey was the copycat. Legends recognize legends I guess.

She said this?! :gaycat6: That’s kinda sad.

OT - I’m sure she’s really impressed with the lane Bey has carved for herself as an artist and respects the energy she’s put into honing her craft in the music industry.

Gaga literally copied and pasted her style from the very beginning of her career :rip:

Facts: Beyonce is an icon to the black community, while Gaga is an icon to misogynistic ATRL gays who hate woman who are more successful than her (which, sorry to say, Beyonce is)

Why would you harass someone's family member to beg for a collab??

This. Grace has had something nasty to say about any female with artistic drive and impact that made it bigger than her. Says a lot then that she feels safe with Beyonce.

Gaga for sure is the talk of the town this week. :dies:

Her power and the way Liddos make you guys feel EVERYDAY truly is unmatched, lmfaoooo.

Not for nothing, but Grace Jones has shaded both Beyoncé and Gaga in the same breath in the past. She’s probably just interested in the way Beyoncé has evolved over time and gaining more and more respect.

Which is understandable because Gag has only regressed artistically post-BTW.
