Madonna invented your faves with this tour. Why?

Because it was revolutionary and set the groundwork for pretty much every female tour that followed. No other artist dared to treat their tours like a live art show but Madonna did because she always was thinking outside the box. That’s why she’s the Queen of Pop and the blueprint for all pop artists :gaycat2:

She was THAT great.

This is what makes her present so sad. The way she is ruining her legacy in the eyes of the public. I hope she can nail the final act of her career.

She is not ruining anything. Her discography has got a boost in streaming recently. Plus she will always be a touring giant and a respected legend. Her antics now are literally not any different from the wild boytoy she was in the 80s. She has always been provocative :gaycat2:

Maybe not directly but it is noticable how so many people just lynch a 63 year old woman for what, just being herself and having fun? Like why are we expecting women (or men for that matter) to suddenly start dressing like nuns and priests and walk around with their cane everywhere and only utter words heard in Downton Abbey when they reach the age of 60? I’m glad she gives no fucks and acts messy and silly and a fool. Kabbalah Madonna was a massive fluke, this is the real her

Agreed. It's sad. That tour was a revolution for pop... nowadays she's just actively ruining all of that. It's hard to believe the same person behind the Blond Ambition Tour also has the most universally panned performance I've witnessed in my life (her 2019 Eurovision interval act in Tel Aviv). She's completely out of touch.

How? Yes she is a cringy grandma on TikTok and IG that's established but even in her 60's and with a completely torn knee her last tour was still great and more thought out than the vast majority of current MPG's tours :rip: She could easily just become a ghost of her past relic and just completely go the nostalgia route (I mean, current MPGS are transitioning to that status after two albums these days) but instead she completely gives us a new vision / body of work every time she decides to tour.

Yall are way on harsh on her (in this department). Pls.

I don't mind her performance skills. She is 63 and had health problems. The pride show was good. I just feel like her public image is being destroyed by herself. She no longer seems like a pop entity, like the legend that she is. She just does a pathetic act on his social media with an astronomical amount of filters and strange behavior. Musically it is not delivering much either.

I want to see where she goes after releasing the remix album. I'm hopeful for one last great record.

I wasn't talking about her performances. She knows how to put on a good show and she is still good for being over 60 years old. I was talking about her public image in general.

I don't think her pitiful social media behavior is damaging her too much. Not enough people who use social media care about her. But her dodgy performances that are watched by millions such as the Tel Aviv one or that infamous Living for Love performance do have a part in ruining her legacy. Still, I think she'll be fine and respected in the end.

I love how she treats her shows like a movie

I was thinking about this the other day

Blond Ambition WT along with Truth or Dare… are the absolute peak of everything Madonna. A total tour de force. Genre creating and defining.

it is THE pop tour, and will always be

Posted

Also, I can’t believe users often compare The Monster Ball to this :rip:

I love Gaga as much as the next gay, and it was a fun show… but Blond Ambition feels like significant cultural history…. They are not the same

Posted

bc she's a REAL artist while others remain reductive wannabes.

all of ha tours are influential and legendary. nobody has that.

The way Truth or Dare trailblazed reality TV too :coffee: Also releasing TIC aka the biggest selling compilations album by a solo artist EVER the same year :deadbanana4: The chokehold of IMPACT

She's not just being herself and having fun though, it's more than that. What's she's done with her body and face are actually quite alarming. I think Madonna has always been goofy and wild like she is now but there's something off with her now. I genuinely hope she's ok and want the best for the queen of pop obvs.

Anyway, BA started it all. My only complaint is some of the 80s choreo looks silly now.

The sad thing is the Eurovision act wouldn't have been half as panned if it wasn't for the incorrectly set up live autotune

The only time I've seen her Eurovision performance mentioned post-2020 is for it 'predicting' the pandemic. People have mostly moved on, except you.

Society has also moved on from thinking the Brit Awards wardrobe malfunction was embarrassing to acknowledging her carrying on with the performance.

Is this a ruined legacy?

Because she had the creativity and foresight to be the first one to merge a musical performance and a Broadway show into a slick musical revue with a storyline and everyone has been copying her template for the past 30 years creating shows that are broken up into themed segments with props and costumes that tell a story.

You could say the same about the positive aspects of her career as well. It's not like people think of them unless when reminded. This argument is valid on both sides :michael:

Her SB performance was uploaded 2 years after it and it already has almost 10m more views :rip: Eurovision is a fad nor does it have replay value (Ala something like Mariah’s Christmas performance or Whitney’s epic high note fail)
