If republicans keep control I could see Gay marriage being OUT in like 5 years. Also if America does it you already know other countries will follow. Terrible terrible. Imagine the families that will be torn apart by this

No country with gay marriage legalised is going to follow America :lmao:

People who are gay and conservative truly confuse me, your own party vocally disagree with your existence and actively try to take away your rights. Even if you disagree with a number of liberal views, it is never in your best interest to side with conservatives.

Literally EVERY single mainstream republican and pundit was talking about just a few weeks ago how "repealing Obergefell isn't something the right wants to do, calm down" but in the last few weeks Same Sex Marriage Should Be Repealed has yet again become a mainstream talking point of the right, with the Texas GOP adding Homosexuality as an abnormality to their platform.

No other first world country is a failed state like America so the thought of other countries derogating gay marriage feels unlikely to me

The American "center-left" is in shambles, all of this is happening and all they can do, at best, is get in front of a camera to say the most vague and virtue signalling stuff. They could EASILY take these things to Congress and FORCE Republicans to take a stance on ALL OF THIS before an election, but they won't because they think "remaining vague helps the electability" of some of their members in battleground states, and that's just not the case. A Democrat candidate in Pennsylvania or Wisconsin is not gonna gain the vote of someone who is opposed to gay marriage existing, not when over 70% of the country supports gay rights. That 30% is highly politicized and highly tribal, but the Dem party's leadership right now is just filled with old cowards.

Otherwise, they're just allowing Republicans to get away with the "I don't believe in calling it marriage, but let's repeal obergefell and then call it civil unions," when pretty much ALL republican led states have BANS in place. Do you honestly think Republican state supermajorities and majorities are gonna llft those bans in any way, shape or form?

I can fully understand gay people who are so frustrated with the bad government of the democrats and their refusal to course correct, but I also think that I would never, ever give my vote to the American right, their base is by definition a coalition of fundamentalists, even if their GE voters are much broader and more progressive than the base, at the end of the day a lot of politicians follow the base's lead because that's where most of the donors come from.

A bigger % share of Bernie voters voted for Hillary in 2016 than the Hillary voters who did for Obama back in 2008 :coffee2: Hillary was a bad candidate the Dem establishment pushed, just like Biden. They're more interested in keeping empty suits in power than actually having a politician who will actually do something with the power they've been invested. You can **** it up while governing but at least do something, rn Biden is ******* up by refusing to move in ANY direction.

It should be illegal for him to even spew any type of s**t.

Wondering if the few gay conservatives are rethinking their vote...

Of course not.they will twist themselves into a pretzel like grifter fraud blair white

Republicans would rather burn this country to the ground than allow people to have rights.  People who only have hatred like this need serious mental help (which is of course something they oppose too)

Kinda gross to pin the blame on Bernie supporters when he’s been standing up for gay rights his entire political career.

Those moderate Republicans living in the suburbs the last six years: "No, one of my wife's best friends is a gay man and he comes over all the time for Sunday brunch with his husband, so of course I don't agree with the GOP wanting to make gay marriage illegal... but I also don't want to pay more in property taxes on our 3rd rental property so I can't in good consciousness vote for the radical communist Democrats and will instead vote Trump to stop them."

When the affluent classes ruin society to the degree that America's wealthy have, the people who are suffering in other societies begin dragging those rich people out of their homes and then.. well.. I'll let you guess. :gaycat:

2024 elections are gonna be interesting to follow. I'm intrigued to see how the Republicans will deal with issues that we thought were behind us (gay marriage, for instance).

The only thing I'll give them is that they say the quiet parts of their "ideology" out loud, they fully only care about themselves even if it means burning the rest of the world to the ground around them :gaycat6:
