Desire Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 The lack of good performers is it even worth watching if they're just going to end up giving Adele everything when she doesn't deserve it

I think you're missing some of the "In Memoriam" performers -- or rather, there will be a couple of performances in tribute to specific artists who passed away last year. Not sure whether these will take place throughout the show or during the In Memoriam segment. Anyway, these are the planned tributes: Kacey Musgraves - "Coal Miner's Daughter" (tribute to Loretta Lynn) Mick Fleetwood, Sheryl Crow, and Bonnie Raitt - "Songbird" (tribute to Christine McVie) Quavo & Maverick City Music - "Without You" (tribute to Takeoff) You can also remove Anoushka Shankar, since she's performing at the pre-telecast ceremony. And apparently they're doing a "50 Years of Hip-Hop" segment that is supposed to feature dozens of performers: Quote Showcasing the genre's rich history and continued global influence, this portion of the show will feature electrifying performances by Big Boi, Busta Rhymes with Spliff Star, De La Soul, DJ Drama, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Missy Elliott, Future, GloRilla, Grandmaster Flash, Grandmaster Mele Mel & Scorpio/Ethiopian King, Ice-T, Lil Baby, Lil Wayne, The Lox, Method Man, Nelly, Public Enemy, Queen Latifah, Rahiem, Rakim, RUN-DMC, Salt-N-Pepa and Spinderella, Scarface, Swizz Beatz, and Too $hort. LL COOL J will introduce the segment, perform and give a dedication to hip-hop. Questlove will serve as producer and musical director, music will be provided by the Roots and said hip-hop ensemble Black Thought will narrate. They usually use a fragment of a video In the past (and I mean like 90s/early 2000s because this rarely happens these days), they'd use a still pic of the album or single cover. I feel like they've also used live performance clips, too? Anyway, these days they only show like a second of it (or however long it takes to say the nominee's name/title), so it's not a big deal anymore lol.
