est. in 90s Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 Can't get over how janky these noms are. What a mess! And I thot 2021 was bad. Grammys turning into the VMAs, but somehow worse... Congrats to Queen Bey. Renaissance deserves it all.
Death & Decay Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 Congrats to all the nominees. Especially my girl Xtina!!!
Lucas32 Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 Their picks somehow manage to get more unintersting by the year MOTS being one of 3 Coldplay albums to get AOTY nom..truly tragic
jdanton2 Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 Glimpse of Us by Joji should have had some nominations.
Protocol Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 Wait, I just realized Zach Bryan was snubbed big time. No BNA nomination?! What the ****?? Especially considering some of the more obscure names on there. He's an excellent artist and has been HUGE in the past year. Really baffling and I think this indicates the secret committees are back. Zach Bryan is a non-Nashville country artist and they HATE that. Also because I somehow highly doubt Mary J. Blige got those nominations organically. Her album made zero noise.

It's not happening.
DirtyPony87 Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 Embarrassing nominees tbh. I'm a Coldplay stan, but the fact that their last album was nominated is so... Not surprised the best and most interesting album of 2022, Motomami, was snubbed in the major categories, but seeing some of the stuff that made it up there, I'm not too pressed.

She's just a name-check for a lot of (lazy) voters riding off the success of ADT. The fact that she underperformed (i.e., got shut out of R&B completely) in genre categories when she previously was nominated and won in R&B is telling. She has no cross-genre support. Kendrick: The genre categories will be a win in itself. He couldn't rally support with bigger/superior albums (TPAB, DAMN) and I don't see it happening with an album as divisive as MMATBS. He'll get rap votes for AOTY but I can't see the other voters going for him without a clear hit and an album that is largely inaccessible to the GP due to its subject matter. Mary: The nomination itself is the win off the tail-end of a huge year for her and I think voters know that well enough to not support her in the final round of voting. I still think she loses all the awards she's nominated against Bey in for the R&B categories, but we'll see. The results of R&B will be very telling. If Bey sweeps R&B, she has a strong case for AOTY. True. Lizzo might not take away many votes. Mary might pull some votes though. Kendrick might just get genre wins. I agree. We'll see. Last year's winner makes me believe vote splits are real. For some reason, I could see Harry pulling one out.
Flanders Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 ABBA is taking Aoty, and it won’t be undeserved.
Thinking Of You Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 Wow! Congratulations to Mary J. Blige! It is awesome seeing her in the General Field. I always thought “Rent Money” should’ve been a gigantic hit. I am a little surprised about Elton and Britney missing Pop Duo - Group.
QueenofCopyPaste Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 Album of the Year: Adele - 30 Record of the Year: Adele - Easy On Me Song of the Year: Adele - Easy On Me Best New Artist: Muni Long
Squall Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 Why isn't Billie credited for Nobody Like U?

YeH, this is the greatest injustice. Motomami is brilliant! But I’m not surprised, sadly.
BloodLuster Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 what a huge bore I'm not watching this year. rooting for Carolina, King and Muni though
Cheers Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 Bad Bunny should win AOTY. If not him I’m ok with Adele or Beyoncé I guess.

Severus Snape Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 No MOTOMAMI? Biggest surprise tbh, she should have gone harder with US promo I guess.

Kylizzle Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 We say this every year but these nominations are truly horrible

She's a niche artist in America and they never favour artists who sing in Spanish. Her getting major noms was a long-shot tbh.
AidanUnderYou Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 Can someone explain how Brandi Carlisle’s first album came out in 2005 and she received 1 Grammy nomination between 2005-2018 and since 2019 she’s had 24 nominations and 6 wins? Like go off Brandi i’m happy for her but how did she become a Grammy darling overnight

getBusy Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 I really dislike that the big categories have 10 nominees.
Ferret Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 Yep, Bad Bunny is getting AOTY Taylor is getting SOTY im not sure about ROTY, that’s pretty tough

She's had nominations in 4 different categories over the years.
