I don't think we'll see instances of vote-splitting.

• Lizzo: I love her but she's not a threat. She's just a name-check for a lot of (lazy) voters riding off the success of ADT. The fact that she underperformed (i.e., got shut out of R&B completely) in genre categories when she previously was nominated and won in R&B is telling. She has no cross-genre support.
• Kendrick: The genre categories will be a win in itself. He couldn't rally support with bigger/superior albums (TPAB, DAMN) and I don't see it happening with an album as divisive as MMATBS. He'll get rap votes for AOTY but I can't see the other voters going for him without a clear hit and an album that is largely inaccessible to the GP due to its subject matter.
• Mary: The nomination itself is the win off the tail-end of a huge year for her and I think voters know that well enough to not support her in the final round of voting. I still think she loses all the awards she's nominated against Bey in for the R&B categories, but we'll see. The results of R&B will be very telling. If Bey sweeps R&B, she has a strong case for AOTY.

These nominations are a joke this year.

ABCDEFU for SOTY, Unholy getting a nomination and the AOTY category is so poor. Motomami and Dance Fever are better than at least half of the AOTY nominees. I’m glad Florence got a nomination tho and I hope Beyoncé finally gets her AOTY. She really deserves it especially compared to the other nominees.

ATW 10-min is a brand new, that's why it was nominated for SOTY. The rerecord ATW is ineligible I believe

Beyoncé, the most honored artist in Grammy history! The one and only! 

 

Adele's fave getting AOTY is more than deserved, as even RS pointed she should've been won for her previous two masterpieces. No expectations though. They've snubbed her so far and shouldn't be given the benefit of the doubt.

 

I'm ready for another 'Adele pissed at the Grammy's for getting it wrong again' moment though.
