not with the incoming review bombing on all the websites. don't be naive now. it's like clockwork.

unfortunately the only audience measurement that will be reliable is the cinemascore.

Just saw this! I really enjoyed it.

The out of the water scenes were better than the under water scenes. The CGI was sometimes wonky underwater.

Halle was so good! Her voice, her mannerism, and her aura was the perfect modified Ariel. There were parts that felt flat compared to the original, but most of the (slight) changes they made enhanced the story further and made it its own.

As far as acting goes, Melissa and Jonah were good, and Sebastian was as funny as the OG. Havier as Tritan did not work for me though. Lastly, the streets were correct, Vanessa ATE!

Part of Your World, Under The Sea, and Kiss the Girl were well made. Poor Unfortunate Souls was so so. I did not care for the new Eric and Scuttle songs, but enjoyed Halle’s new one.

I also appreciated and liked the nuance they added to Ariel and Erics relationship, as well as Ariel and Tritans.

Spoiler

The best change was expanding on Ariels motives to be human, followed by Erics love for exploring the oceans. I am annoyed that they cut out Ariels transformation scene at the very end when she emerges from the water in the stunning silver gown!

The chemistry between Halle and Jonah was great and elevated their love story more.

The box office begins.

TLM has collected nearly $1M from early shows (pre Thursday) in the US/Canada.

I am expecting $11.5-12.5M from Thursday showings. Followed by a healthy $30-33M true Friday, for a $40-45M Friday debut. $115-120M 3-day should be possible from that, and a $142-147M 4-day.

South Korea starts with $370k on Wednesday. Let's see where the number ends up by Sunday, as lots can happen between now and then. I was expecting far less, considering the doom casted upon it in those markets beforehand.

Saw this tonight, Halle was SO good. Impecable casting. Melissa McCarthy was also very good too! I think these 2 are what helps the movie from being average.

Paris opening day sales show it outperforming Aladdin by about 15-18% too :clap3:

Italy OD comes in solidly at $650k too. Should be a healthy opening there.

Australia tracking for $6-7M debut weekend, Mexico tracking for $7M+.
