Looks good. Halle Bailey is an example of perfect casting. Melissa McCarthy is still... Melissa McCarthy. The visual effects in "transformation scene" belonged in a Disney Channel Original Movie, but STANDING OVATION for Halle Bailey's last extended final note at the end of the trailer. This will be the first Disney live-action film I will see in theaters since "Cinderella" in 2015.

 

Emma Watson is still trash; a friendly reminder.

Still have a lot of issues with some of the creative choices, the underwater scenes / sets look really mid in my opinion, like I’m very aware King Trident is not actually underwater 💀

 

Casting of Halle is perfect tho and Melissa might actually nail this.

this is probably my biggest critic so far, like there were some better choices and opportunities with this.

I'm going to wait to see how the full movie is. The trailer got me a bit hyped but it's still giving 'flat' to me. Like phoned in teas. The acting from these quick shots feels slightly hollow; like you know they were on set, in front of a blue screen, not feeling fully invested and 'part of the world' (no pun intended). 

 

I really really hope the transformation scene is better than what the trailer shows. Recreating her being in that 'bubble' and her fins splitting into legs, etc etc. Also the shell with Ariel's voice being ripped off Ursula's neck by a dolphin (or Scuttle) and it dramatically flying through the air and crashing on the ship floor, broken open to unleash Ariel's beautiful aria. That scene was emblazoned on my little kid brain

Everything about this looked INCREDIBLE! It looked cinematic, it was colourful, it was fun, it was BEAUTIFUL and Halle's singing!!! I'm beyond excited. I can't even believe how great that looked.
