Did homelander not tried to kill her? I mean he can control how strong his lasers are (for example he can use it just to warm milk). Cause if she is so durable to survive his lasers that he uses to kill, how is she able to cut her hands with a knife? 

 

i loved this show a lot! When I saw first teasers for this, I was expecting a flop show, but damn... they ate

I can't tell if I'm extremely obsessed with Cate because she's genuinely CVNT or because she's blonde lol

 

her acting's kinda mid

her fashion has been inconsistent

her posture lowkey sucks

What I do know is that the plot makes total sense and that I'm siding with Cate the hardest. Marie, Andrew, Jordan... They all should have tried a bit harder to understand. Was it really that difficult to figure out that Cate was being manipulated? Especially after they had gone into her head? I'm mostly mad at Andrew, Marie I understand

Is it rare when a spin off is actually ten times better than the original? The Boys was only good in the first season and then started plummeting. Gen V works so much better

I was not expecting that ending. You can't spell  "CATE DUNLAP" without the word CVNT.

Cate is the new Homelander in the sense that I love her but she’s terrifying.

I'm actually rly glad she's on Homelander's side because I find myself unable to root for him. This ups the stakes of the show for me

Lmao I might be the only one with this opinion but I thought the majority of the series was plain and felt flat, until the last couple of episodes (5 and 7-8). The characters had a lot of background to be used but they were just vessels of a story truly carried by the "adult" characters of the show (and The Boys already previously introduced plots).

 

7 and 8 tied everything so well though and improved the series in every single area, plus making this sort of contrast with The Boys in terms of switching the perspective to supes made me appreciate Gen V more, but I still think it lacks more substance. Of course it got me excited for a next season... just hope they drop the cringy things they inherited from The Boys, particularly S3 (dicks, corny gore and the ******* muppets). 

 

While I'm not gonna stan Cate as some of y'all are doing, but she was the character with the best development of the series and kinda unexpected (for me).

Okay I was finally able to watch the finale and... WOW.

 

I'm so excited for the next season of The Boys now and what they have in store.

 

Those final moments of that episode had me shaking. When Marie exploded Cate's arm I gave out an audible gasp. I really thought Marie died as I assumed she would not be able to heal herself quickly enough to survive Homelander's laser, but I guess she is stronger than we thought. The way I went into this show thinking that the entire cast except Marie was gonna die, only for the complete opposite to have been a possibility.

 

The episode made me realize how much I actually dislike Sam though. His scenes with Emma were cute but without her he just seems like an annoying edgelord. At least Cate makes for an interesting villain.

 

Also... I don't really understand that scene with Andre and his dad. Did his dad just randomly have a change of heart like that so quickly?

 

Again though.. that was a phenomenal episode. And Ashley's actress ALWAYS gives a performance whenever she's on.

Just having Homelander and Butcher cameo triggered me and kinda tempered my excitement bc I was reminded of how terrible a direction The Boys is going. Maybe I'll save it for the The Boys thread but I want to echo the sentiments I saw on Twitter that when does a program transition from satire to ironically the thing they're trying to satire with The Boys have multiple seasons and no definitive ending. Anyway I hate that they're cowards and won't kill Homelander

 

Vought should just create a Young Justice/Teen Titans team for Sam and Cate so there's no significant mingling between the mainline series and the spinoff characters. Interesting that it seems like they'll be moving away from Godolkin U as the primary setting since it'll probably be shut down indefinitely which is really quick bc Harry Potter spent so much time at Hogwarts before transitioning to the outside world.

Yeah, like she has been around other sups and has seen how awful they can be too.

So deserved. Hopefully she blows her head in the next season. 

Overall, I did like the show more than I was expecting. Hopefully season 2 will be even better.

It became pretty obvious to me towards the end of season 2 that they wanted the show to become less of a satire and more of a gritty adult take on Marvel/DC. I don’t mind it though because it’s still miles ahead in quality to what those franchises are delivering. 
 

My only issue with The Boys/Gen V is the constant juvenile humor. It’s so tired now any time they make a dick joke.
