Is Yorgos Lanthimos actually the best unconventional horror filmmaker today?

No jumpscares, almost no gore, nor genre branding of horror.

 

Just pure chilling fear that could happen to you (karma, solitude, power struggle). From visuals, music, and storylines.

he's great, but i only see this argument for killing of a sacred deer and maybe dogtooth. the lobster and the favourite especially are pure dark comedies.

Where? :sistrens: I could see TKOSD being a horror movie, the rest don’t even come close. They have more in common with comedies than anything. 
 

That being said, he is an amazing filmmaker and immensely talented.

None of these are horror lol. TKOASD is a thriller yes.
