mlaredoperez Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 I mean... If I were her label I wouldn't let her release. She's had 0 hits so far.
Uncatena Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 Im so tired of these talented young women (of color) being mistreated by their labels like you cannot tell me its a pattern at this point
insomniac Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 Everyone seems to be in album limbo nowadays. It’s so annoying. If there’s not at least two TikTok viral hits there’s no album coming and even then it’s uncertain

Or is it because of social media I feel like so many artists deal with this It always existed and happened but labels are now more hesitant to put out albums with no hit attached to it for some reason.
paddii_ Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 Honestly, the material she released so far and the snippets she shared are just not it. Have Mercy was a nice song to bop to but the follow ups just didn't have much to offer. She seems to lack any artistic vision. CxH seems to be all Halle if you listen to her album snippets so far. It's clear the reason we didn't get another CxH album is because these girls have total different understanding of what kind of music they want to do next. I mean Chloe said she wants to just have fun in the studio, but these songs are just really bland. She needs to find herself a producer that really helps her shape a body of work and also helps her finding her sound. From that on she can create these fun bops that we also want. But as of now her track record has been pretty disappointing and it won't be enough. Maybe it's time for Halle to have her shot.

Theshigo Washidu Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 Looking back, it did seem a bit premature for Chloe to go solo. One more album with her sister would have helped her standing. Now she's gone solo and down the sexual route only for it to amount to two flop singles. As a result, it's no surprise that the label are hesitant to release the album.
wantedyoutogrow Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 if she didn't release 2 duds in a row maybe that wouldn't have happened, oh well

zoldyck Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 I was looking forward to the album, since I loved all the three songs
Flocon Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 Well, considering the songs she released, it's a good thing they're pushing back the album. They better call it a "solo singles era waiting for Halle to finish shooting The Little Mermaid" and put them back together recording Ungodly Hour follow-up
nicholas Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 nnnn not some of y'all sexual shaming chloe for choosing to go down the sexy route with her music.... anyway labels are so annoying lately in the day in age especially with the rise of tiktok and wanting artists to get that viral hit before they release anything which is annoying i feel like chloe's ep/album will be good but she should have definitely released it after treat me but now has to wait till beyonce's hype dies down which might be a while.... her going solo while halle focus on the little mermaid is not such a bad idea, her label just needs to stop ***** around imo
EarStyle Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 Most artists aren't really giving labels a huge return when it comes to single/album performance. Chloe's full body of work will do moderately well. There's still demand and people still want to see what she has to offer. Between touring, movies, TV etc...the label will get their money. They need to just release it this fall or wait until VERY early next spring.

Eh Parkwood is just an imprint. Likely using predominantly Columbia and wider Sony Music system for both releases, so Beyonce's release timeline won't have much impact on Chloe's. It's more than likely due to the songs not settling how they thought they would.
Red Velvet Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 Her image and music direction compared to with Halle was definitely a choice.......... I am not surprised given how weak the releases have been

I only say this because it seems like Chloe and Halle have not had a hard time getting their previous albums out without hits (The Kids Are Alright had none, Ungodly Hour only had Do It which did worse than Have Mercy, and there were two projects the girls had before these two).
EarStyle Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 Just now, Rotunda said: I only say this because it seems like Chloe and Halle have not had a hard time getting their previous albums out without hits (The Kids Are Alright had none, Ungodly Hour only had Do It which did worse than Have Mercy, and there were two projects the girls had before these two). Exactly! They had 0 hits lol. Just released their art. I think there was too much pressure on Chloe to breakout when her group didn't even have a HUGE breakout moment yet. They should just let her release her art and keep letting both of those young ladies grow and evolve. The group and both girls individually are bigger and more mainstream than I've ever thought they'd be and i've been following them since Youtube. It's amazing to see them be able to accomplish what they have so far.
RihannaStan4LIFE Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 In all honesty, I think Columbia is doing her a solid by not dropping rn. They probs saw Surprise didn’t smash like Have Mercy (which tbh, doesn’t necessarily sound like your run of the mill “hit” either, so I could see why they tried to replicate that success w the subsequent drops), and decided to shift focus to Bey til she’s done w the promo blitz. The album’s done, and if they didn’t like it, I don’t think they’d even let her say much about it, let alone spend even more money on more singles and their respective performances/videos. Columbia sees her potential and know they can probably have a really big moment w this album, which is why they probs pushed it back until their schedule is cleared. They’ve had 3 marquee acts drop albums in the last year (Adele, Harry, now Bey), so I don’t blame them for wanting to focus on those eras before her’s.
AFullMoonlight Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 I really hate how everybody automatically blames the artist for not releasing. That’s out of their control. Clearly an album would be out right now if she had a say in it.

Normani’s album has been pretty much done for months. She wanted her third single to come out in May and it didn’t because RCA didn’t want it to. The labels get the final say in what gets released and this goes for every single artist. The only exception would be for mega stars like Bey.
Shy Boy Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 They should've released For The Night It would be a slow-burning radio hit that would make way for the album's release.
