King :jonnycat: Dawn FM is being done so dirty tho :chick3:

His discography is probably my absolute favorite out of all the male pop stars. Starboy, After Hours, and Dawn FM are all amazing. My Dear Melancholy and Trilogy are ethereal. Not a huge fan of Kissland or TBBTM tho

It really is, it's weird how it underperformed when it's actually better than After Hours and has some great songs like Sacrifice, Out Of Time, HDIMYLM

I feel like maybe the roll out was a bit weird and maybe the release was either too soon or too late, idk

Imma blame the horrible album cover

Because he got cocky, let's be real he has a fanbase but he's still very GP driven, which is why even Blinding Lights was plummeting before it was picked up by radio and the GP.

He can't just release and expect to smash, just a couple months earlier Save Your Tears did amazing thanks to a great round of performances and a remix, then he dropped a new album without a single promo spot booked, and it obviously didn't match the expectations. I did think it would do a bit more to be honest, but his After Hours hits are still Top 100 after all, so it was a bit too much especially considering the huge amount of useless collabs he's released in the meantime.

Blinding Lights didn't really "plummet" tho. He released Heartless and BL at the same time following the same kind of strategy he did with Starboy and IFIC. He never has had bad debuts, he always opens decently big that's why Heartless managed to sneak a #1 and BL opened with great numbers too. BL didn't get the time of the spotlight at the beginning because he and his team were pushing Heartless. Save Your Tears was doing great from the beginning of its single push, the remix basically only was the push for number 1 but the song was already a smash without it.

Dawn FM's problem imo kind of lies on the fact that it was kind of like a mixtape release. It didn't feel like an actual LP release, the whole release was weird. First of TMB was released a bit too soon, it opened well but for some reason they didn't push it further. Maybe they expected to magically pull another BL, I think it would have had far greater longevity and numbers if they had pushed it more.

Then there was like a kind of pause after that and he just released the whole album at once out of nowhere it seems. I actually forgot about a potential album because TMB was released and then nothing happened, still opened great. I don't think he needs that much push than any other artist, he has a big fandom and people check on him.

It definitely was a bit of overstaruration (he was releasing lots of songs at the same time SHM, You Right, Fka Twigs, One Right Now). He had too much going on at the same time and the previous singles BL and SYT were still going strong with unprecedent longevity and the release was kind of low key and quiet so it didn't feel like the public was aware of it. I remember at one time the stations of my country didn't know what to play because they were still playing non stop BL and SYT (even IYE too) so the release of TMB felt reductive in a sense.

I think the project would have done better with a later release and closer to the tour dates.

#JusticeForDawnFm. Dawn is literally one of his better albums and it flopped. Like it’s actually criminal cause the music is a 10.

Global legend. Deserves all the success :clap3:

A discography that consists of pure quality and nothing else... not everyone got that to their credit :clap3:

I agree with everything, and yeah he doesn't need a big push, but his releases have always felt eventful even thanks to the roll-out and this time it was non existent. And yes he has a fanbase but his hits are mostly supported by the GP, even the hits in the OP are getting second winds and certainly not because of his fanbase! I think most of his target audience doesn't even know he released an album.
