Is this the ugliest moment in Awards history?

The booing of Sacheen Littlefeathe, a native American woman who defend her and her people rights getting booed by actors, actresses, producers and directors. The same nigth she was mocked by Clint Eastwood and almost physically assaulted by John Wayne. Was Marlon Brando ahead of his time?

In 1973, Marlon Brando rejected his Oscar for The Godfather to allow Sacheen Littlefeather to protest Hollywood's portrayal of Native Americans. [1657 x 2486] : r/HistoryPorn

Is this the most disgusting moment in Awards history?

I dont want to watch it, it sounds sad and terrible.

Are we sure this wasnt a stunt though like the will smith thing? Hollyweird loves their stunts.

I heard a couple boos during her courageous speech but I mostly heard applause

Her speech was so gentle and wonderful. Those Hollywood Nazis were so wrong.

Marlon Brando was absolutely right to refuse the Oscar. (sth that Will Smith should have done in 2022 also - not for it being a noble gesture, but because his undeserving behaviour).

They didn’t ask for most iconic, they asked for ugliest, and a Native American woman getting booed by Hollywood elite for asking for Native American rights is far uglier than Kanye pulling a stupid publicity stunt

So a moment where a woman was humilliated in front of everyone and had her first VMA award win tainted forever is iconic for you?

K bye for now, Sunshine. <3

Are you suggesting you agree the Kanye incident was uglier than a Native American woman booed and almost physically assaulted for asking for rights for her people?

A Native American woman almost getting assaulted for simply asking to be treated like a normal human being by one of the most famous Hollywood actors ever>>>>>”Omg Taylor got her feelings hurt and her career got even bigger afterwards, in large part because of this incident”. Like….grow up

I never said it was an uglier moment (it wasn’t), just questioned you calling it iconic, you still have yet to answer my question.

Let me repeat, was moment where a woman was humilliated in front of everyone and had her first VMA award win tainted forever is iconic for you?

K bye for now, Sunshine. <3

One of the most beautiful moments actually. Yes a couple of people bood, but it was mostly applause and the whole situation is so heartfelt and daring.

This was a glorious moment! I’m sure Taylor thinks so as well, she must be very proud of the moment that Kanye ever so kindly made her famous. He is truly a saint of our times. :heart2:

It massively benefitted her career….her celebrity blew up after this. How has rights for Native Americans improved since this incident? Hint: not much.

Grow up and take off your Stan glasses, please

No one is comparing to the disgusting incident posted in the OP, which as I said, is uglier.

Maybe you should take your hater glasses off and realize that a moment where a woman is humilliated is also ugly, again, not as ugly as the incident posted in the OP, but still ugly and not something that should be downplayed and called iconic just because it may have had some benefits after.

K bye for now, Sunshine. <3

I never celebrated it and said it was good, it was an iconic award show moment :rip: what is wrong with you :rip: crying tears over a rich white woman getting more fame and attention but ignoring actual problems, because your Stan glasses stay attached to your face

Yes, imo this is one of two ugliest moments. The other ugliest moment was when Hattie McDaniel, who then won Best Supporting Actress for Gone with the Wind, had to sit in the back of the room far from the rest of the cast during the Oscars because it was held at a segregated hotel.

Yeah this was the only other thing to come to mind. The way Hattie was treated within Hollywood was disgusting. Iirc, her final wishes of where her remains should be buried were denied at her death because the place she wanted to be buried in was only for famous white people.

Imagine coming to this thread with the Kanye/Taylor incident. :deadbanana2:
