Okay I get what she did. My last posts made me a bit confusing. The beat and production are not a demo. Its a grower like dont start now, and might be a hit

Sometimes I think y’all be making stuff up as you go. This and that about the production when there is ZERO issue with it.

None of you can school Beyoncé on anything regarding production. I hate to break it you, that ATRL degree on music production doesn’t cut it in the real world.

It’s interesting but isn’t gonna do anything on the charts. If the rest of the album is like this, she should’ve just done a surprise release

I like the concept but this does sound kinda repetitive, perhaps Lemonade set the bar a bit too high. I'm still excited to hear the full album :giraffe:

Since it bothers a certain someone this much - yes, Sour Candy did it better I fear :thing:

Sis, this can apply to literally any song released ever. And you're just as guilty of having an opinion :thing:

What you're saying is that it's not for us to discuss music apparently. Time to shut down ATRL

I’m not back-pedalling.

1. I still don’t care for dance music

2. I associate rhythmless dancing with white people yes.

y’all keep saying the genre was started by black people as if anyones arguing against that. Which popular black-frequented clubs in the world is bumping house music ? I’m not about to take my ass to a techno club to hear no goddamn Beyoncé music

Im not a casual listener of country either but daddy lessons is one of my favs off Lemonade. Im open minded about my fav venturing into other genres if the execution pays off. I don’t feel like it did in this case. It just reiterated what I don’t like about that genre. Y’all are not gonna bully me into changing my stance on a fecking genre of music. Im secure in my blackness. I don’t need to acknowledge house music for any reason.

At the hype of EDM Beyonce gave you rnb when everyone was doing dance....let sis finally have her moment to show she is more than just rnb and black history month spirituals lol.

This album isn't made for you. It is made to regain all the white fans and bring in other fanbases and I am here for it!!! First coachella. Next edc!!! Dance music is about to come back and black artist want to get a jump start on it before all the white artist over saturate it like they did back in the early 10s

Just listened. It’s like you’re listening to Anna Wintour in the Taco Bell drive thru and big Freedia is the person taking the order. And at one point you drive off but can still here her in the background

no cause this is accurate :bibliahh:

Why is America so anti house music. Everything ain't just rnb and hip hop.

I think the music video will sell it like how run the world did.

This song is a grower.   I turned off to it at first...but now I'm addicted.

And Europe is the total opposite: anti-rnb and hip-hop (at least US hip-hop).

This is the result of 2 (past-their-prime) r&b writers (The-Dream, Tricky Stewart) and an r&b performer trying to make a house record. It doesn't sound natural. Not that r&b and the 90's club music she's going for don't share any connection, but it's very indirect. She should have worked with people who actually make house.

What is a natural house record supposed to sound like?

the production is like… the best thing about the song imo :rip:

although it’s not a lead single material, the song is such a FUN bop :jonny5:

I genuinely find this to be a horrible song. I'm so unmentionably let down; I went to sleep so sad last night :deadbanana2:

I'm just gonna stay quiet and pretend this disaster doesn't exist. Still can't wait for the album, coming so soon  :jonnycat:

It's not the production.

It's how the song has like 20 different elements to it, and is almost 5 minutes long, yet it still sounds undercooked. Maybe it's the chorus that falls flat? Idk. But it definitely isn't serving "iconic lead single" no matter which way you slice and dice it. And it's going to do nothing on the charts outside of hype. I promise you that. It works as a teaser track for the era, but I'm having a hard time believing people are wildly in love with this song, even the Hive.

I'm confused as to why she chose this out of the 15 other tracks to be the lead. :rip: She's dipping into a genre Gaga did 2 years ago, and was already late back then. If you want to bring race into it, Alexandra Burke had a house/EDM album back in 2012. :rip:

I just know she has better on the album. And I can't wait for it.

it sounds raw

Her voice doesn’t blend well with the beat. You can tell her voice has aged a bit too and that’s ok.

I actually wanted the song to end by the 2:min mark because it became too repetitive. The person yelling in the background is also distracting.

DSN was NOT a grower :deadvision: Literally the biggest instant smash at the time since bad guy

OT: Gonna listen to this on headphones during my morning commute to get my full first impression

I never said people can’t discuss music or critique music but I’m saying that people are reaching because there is zero issue with the production

That second verse is especially fun :jamming:

I'm not in love, but I think it shall grow. The vocals are flawless (per usual), the production is crisp, and the elements they add throughout each chorus are wonderful, rooting for this to become a big hit for Bey :jamming:
