Is it because they rather give their songs with potential to the IT girl of the moment? This isn't shade, I just don't get it. This happened with Gwen Stefani on her 2015 scrapped album. She even said in an interview she recorded “Heart Wants What It Wants” and another artist (Selena) wanted it. So the writers took it back and gave it to Selena instead because she was a bigger artist. These writing camps are giving the hits to the current chart topping girls. Not someone who’s been out of the game for 6 years.

The production is so repetitive and monotonous. Imagine if SG Lewis produced this instead, for instance. Tricky Stewart and The-Dream should’ve been left in 2009… I love the SG Lewis shoutout. The MPG that grabs him for an actual lead or entire album will impact the pop scene tremendously. “Chemicals” is that song.
bestfiction Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 It's... fine. Just wish there was something more to it. It doesn't feel like a lead single, more like a Grown Woman/Standing On the Sun throwaway moment
Daydream Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 (edited) Yall are so funny melting down like this. I think you’re taking the lyrics “release ya anger, release ya stress!” a tad TOO seriously. It’s a fun bop, get up and dance to it, or don’t and go listen to something you do enjoy instead of spending time complaining about something you hate. The stan world has warped some of yall minds. (I’m talking to the ones who are making a million posts repeating the same thing over and over, not the people just stating their opinion which is fair) I can’t wait for the video! The problem are the uninspired lyrics and some of the vocal delivery. She should have toned down her vocals for this kind of song until the explosive end. This is how I feel. Also Bey’s stylistic choices post-2018 with the growls and the way she always incorporates them even into her upper belts. Her voice has matured, but something about it seems very forceful especially in anthems like Black Parade, Be Alive, and Break My Soul which is sometimes too jarring to appeal to radio. She is capable of sounding ethereal and melodic: Can You Feel The Love Tonight, Moon River, that Disney sing along in 2020 which showcased her lighter gorgeous tone. This song is def a bop though, I’m just disappointed by how she approached it vocally. That last minute and “everybody” at the end for me were the highlights.
Rodrighost Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 well I was expecting an Anna Wintour by Azealia Banks but she went for a more pop, radio paced sound. I totally get it tho and the lyrical content of the song encapsulates well the album concept. Let's hope for at least one club house song with a big chorus on the album.

It has two samples, several layers of background vocals, a chorus, different chorus deliveries a build up and an outro.
Bicassie Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 The way this grew on me I can’t wait for her to do this live on tour

The first "lalalala" were so great in contrast with the Big Freedia sample. I was expecting that kind of ethereal vocal approach but it served some of The Gift vocals that i didn't like for a house track. Hope there is some ethereal moments ala "I feel love"
Sander Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 A bit underwhelming & generic for her standards I suppose, but I feel it will grow after a few listens… idk but I think my biggest issue with it is that the song could be from literally anyone and it feels kind of impersonal to me.
DuffStan Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 This is a booop, what are some of y'all talking about it? (first listen was weird though, that sample has been overused recently from Charli to Craig David)
KMO Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 (edited) It’s really good but a grower IMO, and I can only see gays and their girls really rinsing this. “release your trade” is sending me but I’d say Drake won the house-loving straights this round. People are saying the production is basic? It’s classic house production, any more and it’d morph into a messy early-2010s dance-pop track. Edited June 21, 2022 by KMO

I’m black. I need rhythm to dance to, not white-boy-wasted fist pump.” You inserting that you’re Black right after saying you don’t care for House music as a genre, and then doubling down on saying “white-boy-wasted fist pump” makes it sound like you associate house music with white people and that you’re not a fan because you’re Black… Which makes zero sense considering the House genre was started by Black people… It’s giving backpedaling I’m not back-pedalling. 1. I still don’t care for dance music 2. I associate rhythmless dancing with white people yes. y’all keep saying the genre was started by black people as if anyones arguing against that. Which popular black-frequented clubs in the world is bumping house music ? I’m not about to take my ass to a techno club to hear no goddamn Beyoncé music Im not a casual listener of country either but daddy lessons is one of my favs off Lemonade. Im open minded about my fav venturing into other genres if the execution pays off. I don’t feel like it did in this case. It just reiterated what I don’t like about that genre. Y’all are not gonna bully me into changing my stance on a fecking genre of music. Im secure in my blackness. I don’t need to acknowledge house music for any reason.
