JCsNumba1Fan Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 I like it, and with repeated listens, I’ll love it.
RobDeWittBukater Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 I was expecting something that would either sound like a beefed up "Haunted" or like a grand Donna Summer-esque disco stormer. 'Break My Soul' fits neither of those expectations. This kind of continuously looping house sound has never done much for me, but Beyoncé did sound great and by the final chorus I did get into it a bit. I'll wait for the album!

SweetTalker Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 Not the uncultured talking about “cheap production” Drake’s album is bad production. This is just an authentic nod to 90s music just like Jessie Ware’s album was to 80s music.
Winged Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 It is not typical Pop Beyoncé this why ATRL hates it Yeah I agree it sounds flat and Beyoncé is giving me Dua Lipa attitude Production is immaculate and drunk or high people will sweat their bobbies off to this at the clubs… very 70/80’s party music im loving fact how Beyoncé is experimenting with music and sounds… if album will be full of those sounds she might have one of the best comebacks of 20’s …
storminthedark Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 It’s fine. It’s not bad but it’s not giving the same excellence as her other leads. It’ll go off in the club for sure, but I’m confused about why it was this track in particular she chose for the lead.

Yes, and that's what was promised. It sounds really like an old House track from 80s/90s but not sure about Europe because it has this old black House feel. I wish she made the choir at the end a bit more predominant.
Doogle Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 I still think she’s gonna serve a big Donna Summer vocal moment with disco realness and impeccable production and a really hard hitting house banger with all the bells and whistles attached on the album. She can’t be naming it that for nothing. This lead choice feels calculated and clever. It’s not offensively bad and at worst it’s deemed mid by everyone here. It doesn’t completely take away people’s interest but it’s a cute basic house bop to introduce us to the new dance Beyoncé

Testosterone Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 Yeah I’m disappointed. But, if there’s one thing Beyoncé can do, it’s sell the hell out of a mediocre song, so let’s wait for the video
TOKYO. Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 This is gonna bomb and flop hard. This is like a garageband demo feel

There was a lot of that in Europe at the time. Many big black artists from European countries were putting their spin on it. I think it sits somewhere in the middle of a European and American house song. I don’t think it’ll make any noise in the US now that genre is dead and buried there by the looks of things. Europe will be more likely to embrace it
Cyanide Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 Sounds like free woman or something from chromatica to me it’s cool to see her go full on dance pop for this but I think she could have done it better. I was hoping for a sound more like B’Day
Champagne Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 I thought something was wrong with my Spotify This literally sounds like a fan-made YouTube mashup to me. I was really excited for the new era, but if this is what she is coming with… wow. Not my cup of tea at all and not what I was expecting/hoping for. Check On It (single) came on right after this and sounded like 10x more of a bop tbh.
BNF91 Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 No offense but what kinda renaissance is it if you're just dubbing over 90's sounding tracks. You gotta bring something new to the table and as a lifelong stan, what Bey delivered is not what I expected. This did not meet the bar.

Arrows Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 Just because this is new for Beyoncé doesn’t mean this is new. This song has been done thousands and thousands of times before for decades
Komet Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 I really like this! The production is sublime She sounds good, but I was hoping for more runs and belts, that one 'Everybody' at the end, ***** Idk how well will this do on the US charts tho, US is somehow allergic to house music despite it being better than majority of genres being play over there so idk. I can see europe eating it up esp for the summer, although I wish verses were catchier And yeah, the male parts should've been deleted or at least cut down significantly
Blue Rose Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 (edited) Anyone that brings up Chromatica is just coming out as an uncultured and basic swine with absolutely no knowledge of music and an embarrassing lack of taste. Edited June 21, 2022 by Blue Rose
Papa Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 I feel like swish swish did house better than this. I want to like it but her vocals sound so boring and repetitive, like you keep waiting for it to go somewhere but you get nothing Someone should have suggested an actual chorus
Serendipity Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 Let’s wait for the album guys, it might sound better in the middle of everything and I’m confident we’re going to get some house or disco bangers. I won’t give up on Beyoncé making pop, but for now it’s a bit of a letdown

I am shocked with the comparison with new dance modern tracks. It sounds nothing alike. One can very much dislike it, it's such a departure from Beyoncé's old music but the comparisons are just weird. ------------- Anyway I am going to step off a bit. I am proud of her, I love the layers, I love church choir at the end, I love the immaculate production, the odd to old House, it's such a departure but she still made it sound a little bit urban/black House. I can't wait for the album. I was a bit bumped when I heard the album would be House but now I am OK with it.
Miss Fortune Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 It's a yes from me. But I love house music & find it super enjoyable.
