NausAllien Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 Ewwww... This sound so weird The beginning is f-cking bizarre with two completely dissonant things playing at the same time. I don't think the chorus and the verses are differentiated enough. The chorus came from nowhere, there was no build-up to it. And the second verse is so weird with the pseudo-rapping that last 6 seconds. Overall, it feels like an album track. Probably her WEAKEST lead single. But I do like the overall sound direction. I just don't think "Break My Soul" is a good single, and it has some really weird things going on. 5/10

Bey'Knight Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 I feeling hate sampling in music. Who invented that ish? I get new Beyoncé but it’s not really new When you hear the first chords of formation, you know you are about to experience something heavy-hitting. welp … I hope this is indeed a palette cleanser and there’s better on the album PS: All this hoopla about house music and I never even registered that I don’t care for that genre. I’m black. I need rhythm to dance to, not white-boy-wasted fist pump.

Dragonfly Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 At least this song will be talked about a lot... I don´t love it, but it definitely makes me curious to hear more
Solaria Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 The way this is just the first taste of the album… MY GOD we have 15 more amazing tracks like this coming our way
skwonderfactory Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 Okay, earlier I couldn’t comment but I can now. This is solid. Not amazing but definitely a bop and I can see why it is the lead single. I am excited for the entire album but this is a nice introduction. Hope the video is dropping soon.

I am blessed to live in a city that has taught me so much about the genre and I absolutely love it. The midwest is going to be slapping this song all summer long.

Johnny Jacobs Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 I'm still shocked that this is what she released in 6 years 8 writers for what? I literally forced myself to hear it 3 times to see if anything will click different but nah..

It’s painful to see such narrow-viewed comments and people talking out of their ass. What Beyoncé did here is actually a masterclass and it is really not that hard to tell.
Mellark Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 The Big Freedia slander is weird. They made the song iconic too.

Papa Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 I was hoping this would be good but it kind of sucks, it just goes nowhere
Mean Trees Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 (edited) For those who want a taster on what actual House music was when it was created by African Americans in the 80s... No Calvin Harris to be heard. Edited June 21, 2022 by Mean Trees
Lille Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 This is more of a pastiche of late 80s/early 90s house than a modern take. Big Freedia doesn't really fit at all. Overall, pretty mid.
