Beyoncé - "BREAK MY SOUL"

Ewwww... This sound so weird :biblio:

The beginning is f-cking bizarre with two completely dissonant things playing at the same time. I don't think the chorus and the verses are differentiated enough. The chorus came from nowhere, there was no build-up to it. And the second verse is so weird with the pseudo-rapping that last 6 seconds.

Overall, it feels like an album track. Probably her WEAKEST lead single. But I do like the overall sound direction. I just don't think "Break My Soul" is a good single, and it has some really weird things going on.

It sounds like a contest song from Drag Race. :ahh:The category is... Working Girl realness.

No, it literally does not. But while we’re there, RuPaul’s music is heavily influenced by house.

I feeling hate sampling in music.  Who invented that ish?

I get new Beyoncé but it’s not really new

When you hear the first chords of formation, you know you are about to experience something heavy-hitting.

welp … I hope this is indeed a palette cleanser and there’s better on the album

PS: All this hoopla about house music and I never even registered that I don’t care for that genre. I’m black. I need rhythm to dance to, not white-boy-wasted fist pump.

On my 3rd listen. Maybe it's not that bad, just a bit generic.

Give it a few more listens and you’ll be moving against your will

:rip: People don’t know what they’re talking about. If you don’t know house music, just say that! Today is a good day to start learning. :heart2:

I guess House to them is simply a Calvin Harris EDM thing...

You do know that black people created house, right?

At least this song will be talked about a lot...

I don´t love it, but it definitely makes me curious to hear more

The way this is just the first taste of the album… MY GOD we have 15 more amazing tracks like this coming our way :jonny5:

Okay, earlier I couldn’t comment but I can now.

This is solid. Not amazing but definitely a bop and I can see why it is the lead single. I am excited for the entire album but this is a nice introduction. Hope the video is dropping soon.

Yeah. I am blessed to live in a city that has taught me so much about the genre and I absolutely love it. The midwest is going to be slapping this song all summer long. :jamming:

I respect your opinion. you have the right to be very wrong all the time, perpetually. eventually you'll never get taste.

I'm still shocked that this is what she released in 6 years :biblio:

8 writers for what?

I literally forced myself to hear it 3 times to see if anything will click different but nah..

:deadbanana2: It’s painful to see such narrow-viewed comments and people talking out of their ass. What Beyoncé did here is actually a masterclass and it is really not that hard to tell.

The Big Freedia slander is weird. They made the song iconic too.

I was hoping this would be good but it kind of sucks, it just goes nowhere

For those who want a taster on what actual House music was when it was created by African Americans in the 80s...

No Calvin Harris to be heard.

This is more of a pastiche of late 80s/early 90s house than a modern take. Big Freedia doesn't really fit at all.

Overall, pretty mid.
