Won't be eligible due to samples but will be eligible for ROTY!

Billboard being so unprofessional that they made such a mistake?

Just had a look at the rules for SOTY and it says:

Quote

"must contain melody and lyrics and must be either a new song or a song first achieving prominence during the eligibility year. Songs containing prominent samples or interpolations are not eligible"

So I guess Big Freedia would be considered a "prominent" sample as it's a major part of the song?

i guss the sample can be considered prominent but it isn't exactly the main melody/lyrics on the song, so it should be eligible.

Billboard is often unprofessional and unimpressive but we'll see! I'd love for her to get the nom. I feel like the fact that there are two samples ("Explode" and "Show Me Love") will make this a stretch...

The samples are not prominent. She should be good.

Also the rules sound vague so should be flexible. In addition, the “sample” is probably related to the lyrics not the production. Since the lyrics are all new she should be good.

WOW UK Hive is really going hard. If only they released those Monday.

Even in the US, the effort poured in by the Hive to stream like crazy and to buy multiple copies of the song is what gave BMS the number one.

The fans go so hard for her, they could help more.

It's definitely more "house" than Break My Soul

and its just a vocal loop of an old song :dies:

U cant say it like that because u have to look at the accumulation of all versions of BMS.

BMS streams are distributed over 6 different versions atm.

I know but it's horrible

Those local DJs stay ruining songs like they did with Ashanti's Baby and the UK audience eats them all  :rip:
