I just noticed there’s a deep, almost haunting background vocal behind “Looking for something lives inside me” and something about it feels spiritual.

Yeah we mentioned it some pages back… it’s like 1 or a group of male voices emerging from nowhere and it’s heavenly :jonny5:

The pace was just slowed during the pre-chorus prior to verse 3 starting. I think the second verse hits so much harder because Freedia has that post-chorus chant where the production is stripped down and it leads into the second verse so by the time the rap section comes in the pace, as well as production, picks up again it’s like the song has been re-energized…only to slow down immediately again.

Don’t get me wrong, the build  ups work so the song doesn’t feel as nearly as long as it really is, I just think my ears may be trained now for shorter length songs. The more I listen to it the more I don’t mind the first part of the 3rd verse, it’s just rn in this moment, it’s the part of the song I would personally edit out.

Like someone else said the second verse going straight into the bridge with the added element of the choir would be perfect for me…but that’s my opinion after sitting with the song for just a week

Yea that post is GODLY. The way Big Freedia really elevates this song :WAP:

and I can understand being trained for shorter songs. I’m not because I don’t listen to new music nowadays. It’s just too horrible. I’ve tried many times but the radio is just awful.

And initially I didn’t get this post of the song, only in the past few days had it become my favorite part.

it’s those damn off beat, perfectly harmonized “can’t break my sooouulll”s just zany!:WAP::jonny4::flame:whew!

Every chorus is sung differently and has different background vocals too.

The layers

And on that note, let’s put some respect on the first chorus’ name. It establishes the basic mold that she riffs off of and changes every other time. It’s necessary from a story structure pov. It’s like the setup or normal world before we venture off on the adventure. The simplicity of the first chorus reminds me of a good old fashioned call and response in church

I love those parts too, as well as that super low hum or whatever she’s doing near the end heading into the last minute before the choir really comes in. I’m obsessed but trying not to listen too much as to not get tired of it too soon.

But there is A LOT to this song, that’s why I didn’t understand those posts on the first couple pages about it being generic or could be done by anyone. No, not the way this song is sung and layered

I wasn’t sure if it was male vocals or just her vocals auto tuned to sound that way, but it’s giving Catholic choir. Im convinced there’s a meaning behind it, like it’s the “something” that lives deep inside of her, like the higher self or whatever.
